The Umbrella Academy ended with Season 4, which Netflix announced as the show’s fourth and final season. The official Netflix coverage cited here contains no announcement of a Season 5. That makes “final season” the accurate description—not proof that a revival or other return is impossible.
Has Netflix announced The Umbrella Academy Season 5?
No. Netflix announced on August 25, 2022, that The Umbrella Academy would return for a fourth and final season, describing it as the show’s goodbye season. Netflix’s announcement establishes the plan for Season 4; the official materials cited here do not announce a fifth season.

Netflix’s Season 4 guide identifies it as the fourth and final season and gives its premiere date as August 8, 2024. The guide lists six episodes. Netflix’s Season 4 coverage confirms the release and episode count.
Was a planned Season 5 cancelled?
The official announcement says Season 4 would be the final season; it does not establish that Netflix ordered a fifth season and later cancelled it. It is more precise to say that the series was designated to end with Season 4. Nor does the available announcement rule out Netflix revisiting the property someday.

Spoilers: How Season 4 ends
Ben and Jennifer set the Cleanse in motion. The siblings discover that restoring the one true timeline requires them to cease to exist, and they allow the Cleanse to consume them. Netflix’s finale explainer describes this as the resolution of the show’s timeline crisis.
Creator and showrunner Steve Blackman clarified that he did not see the siblings as technically dying: “I wanted an ending where I didn’t want them to ‘die’ because they don’t technically die. But they will cease to exist in a way that no one will ever know that they ever were in any timeline, in any place.” He also said the idea for this ending had been present from the beginning of his work on the series. This explains the finale’s intended meaning; it is not an announcement about whether the franchise could ever return.

Does the comic series continue the TV story?
Netflix describes the show as based on Gerard Way’s Dark Horse comics. Those graphic novels are source material to explore, not a confirmed continuation of the television series or a substitute for an announced Season 5. Netflix’s final-season announcement identifies the comic connection.
