Chelsea Meissner said she left Southern Charm after Season 6 because she planned to spend a year in New Zealand. Those plans fell through, but time away from filming helped her realize she valued peace and privacy. Her break from reality TV was not permanent: in 2026, she competed on Season 7 of Rock the Block.
Why did Chelsea Meissner leave Southern Charm?
Meissner’s explanation was that she chose a planned year in New Zealand over continuing on the show. In a March 2025 Instagram Q&A, quoted by Bravo, she said: “I had plans to move to New Zealand for a year, so I chose that opportunity over the show.”
The move did not happen. She said the plans fell through, but being away from filming made her appreciate “how much I enjoyed my peace and privacy.” She added, “It was fun while it lasted.” The account she gave was about the opportunity she expected to pursue and what she learned during her time away—not a reported conflict with the cast or a claim that she was dismissed.
When did she leave the show?
Meissner’s time on Southern Charm ended after Season 6 in 2019, according to Bravo’s cast profile and its later coverage. Her explanation for choosing to leave came publicly in the 2025 Q&A, several years after her departure.

What was Chelsea Meissner doing after leaving reality TV?
Hairstyling work and family life in 2025
In an April 2025 update, Meissner said she still worked as a hairstylist three days a week and had not taken new clients in many years. Bravo also reported that she was raising her daughter with help from her mother. These details describe what she shared in 2025; they do not establish her present-day work schedule or family arrangements. Bravo’s career update has the dated account.
Her return to television
Meissner’s retreat from reality television was not final. In April 2026, TV Insider reported that she competed on Season 7 of Rock the Block with Kim Spradlin-Wolfe, a longtime friend. That later appearance followed Meissner’s 2025 comments that she was unsure whether she would return to television and did not feel ready to take on the intense filming schedule of a renovation show. The 2026 report confirms that she did compete on that season, not what she plans to do next.

What is—and isn’t—known about her departure
Meissner’s own public explanation points to a personal choice: she expected to move abroad, chose that opportunity over the show, and then found she preferred the quieter life she had away from filming. Her account does not explain why the New Zealand plans fell through. The reporting cited here does not establish that cast conflict caused her exit or that she was forced off the show.
