Marriage: what each source says and when
Most of the marriage details come from Candace’s own words, so the date each statement was made matters.
| Source | Date | What it says |
|---|---|---|
| Candace Cameron Bure’s official biography | Not stated | The couple married in 1996. Dave Coulier introduced them at a charity hockey game when she was 19. |
| Washington Post interview | 2020 | Candace describes Valeri as her husband and a retired NHL star, and says they had been married for 24 years at that point. Her comments on marriage and faith are her own views and should not be read as a description of the couple as a whole. |
| AARP search-result snippet | Not stated | The snippet describes the couple celebrating 30 years of marriage. The full article was not checked for this piece. |
The figures are consistent with each other. A 1996 wedding is 24 years old in 2020 and 30 years old in 2026, so the 30th anniversary is the only milestone that depends on a source this article could not verify in full.

Valeri Bure’s hockey career
The Calgary Flames published a profile of Valeri on October 27, 2016. It is the most detailed career source for this article, and its details reflect the time it was written. He played for Calgary before moving on. His last NHL seasons were with:
- Florida Panthers
- St. Louis Blues
- Dallas Stars
According to the profile, he retired at 31. Persistent back problems were the main reason, along with a failed comeback attempt after back surgery. He also said he wanted more time with his family.
After hockey: Bure Family Wines in Napa Valley
The same profile says Valeri developed an interest in winemaking after falling in love with Napa Valley and meeting local winemakers. It names three wines the winery was producing at the time: Majesty Blend, Nuit Blanche, and Duration.
The winery sold to mailing-list clients, and the profile reported a wait of two and a half to three years to join that list. That figure describes 2016 and should not be treated as current access information.

On production, he said: “We’re around 700 cases.” That was the winery’s output in 2016, not a current estimate. On the link between wine and family, he said: “That’s, to me, what wine is all about: Family, connection.”
