- The split (ABC News, June 9, 2026): The report says Grande and Slater ended their relationship after nearly three years. The breakup news is attributed to a source who spoke to People, not to a statement from either star.
- The Alvarez link (El País, July 17, 2026): The report connects Grande with Ricky Alvarez, her former partner, using photographs and unnamed sources. It describes a possible reunion; it does not establish a current relationship.
Until either star speaks on the record, both items should be described as reports. Treating either one as settled fact goes beyond what the coverage supports.
How Ethan Slater and Ariana Grande are connected
Slater’s name is tied to Grande because the two co-starred in the film adaptation of Wicked. Grande played Glinda and Slater played Boq, according to the Associated Press. That working relationship is the shared context behind most coverage of the pair.

Early entertainment coverage reported that the two met through the production and began dating in 2023. That timeline comes from entertainment reporting, not from a first-person announcement by either star. Vogue’s relationship timeline is useful background for those early dates, but it is not a source for the current status.
