What was Piper Rockelle doing in Netflix’s April 2025 update?
Netflix Tudum reported on April 11, 2025, that Rockelle was continuing to produce social-media content. It said many of her YouTube videos at the time featured her alone or with her then-current boyfriend, and reported that her output appeared to remain managed and directed by her mother, Tiffany Smith, and Hunter Hill. Netflix’s update is a dated account; it does not verify her current activity, relationship, management arrangements, or location as of October 8, 2026.

What is Bad Influence about?
Bad Influence: The Dark Side of Kidfluencing is a three-part documentary series released in the United States on April 9, 2025. Netflix’s official Media Center listing describes a series centered on accounts from former members of Rockelle’s Squad and allegations about their experiences in child-content production. The series page lists three episodes and a TV-MA rating. Netflix Tudum’s series page provides those episode and rating details.
#1 Best Overall
The documentary frames those accounts within broader questions about child influencers, online fame, and safeguards. Co-director Kief Davidson described the subject this way: “I think [this] story is a real microcosm of a much bigger issue, which is the exploitation of child influencers in a very unregulated world of social media.”
What happened with the former Squad members’ lawsuit?
Netflix Tudum reported that 11 former Squad members filed a civil lawsuit seeking $22 million from Smith and Hill in 2022. The complaint alleged workplace violations and emotional, physical, and sexual abuse. Smith and Hill publicly denied the allegations, according to the same report.
Netflix reported that the parties reached a $1.85 million settlement nearly three years after the case was filed. The settlement resolved the lawsuit; it is not a judicial finding that the allegations were proven. The $22 million figure was the amount sought in the complaint, not a court award.

What the documentary does—and does not—establish
Bad Influence brings former collaborators’ accounts and allegations into a wider conversation about the production of child-influencer content. Those accounts should be described as allegations and reported experiences, not as facts established by a court. The legal outcome reported by Netflix is a settlement, while the defendants denied the claims.
Likewise, Netflix’s April 2025 status article is not a live tracker of Rockelle’s life. It reports on public videos and apparent production arrangements at that time; it does not confirm her present-day location or provide an October 2026 update.
