The Guardian also reports that Musk was a day pupil at Pretoria Boys and identifies him in a school photograph from 1988. It refers to a 1985 Bryanston yearbook photograph showing him on the school chess team.
What about Waterkloof House Preparatory School?
Some biographical summaries name Waterkloof House Preparatory School as an earlier school. The available reporting cited above does not independently confirm that detail, so it is less firmly established than the high-school sequence.

Where did he go to university?
Musk attended Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, before transferring to the University of Pennsylvania. Queen’s Alumni Review says he spent his freshman and sophomore years at Queen’s from 1989 to 1991, then transferred to Penn, where he earned degrees in physics and economics: Queen’s Alumni Review.
In a 2013 recorded interview, Musk recalled, “Yeah, So I was in Canada for a few years at Queens University.” He described his Penn studies as business and physics in that interview; the university account describes his degrees as physics and economics. The Computer History Museum transcript records his recollection.
