Dawson’s Creek ran for six seasons from 1998 to 2003, and all six are streaming on Netflix, according to Netflix’s own editorial page. The cast’s most significant recent news is the death of James Van Der Beek, who played Dawson Leery, in February 2026 at age 48. Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson, who played Joey and Pacey, have appeared together publicly in 2026 and reunited onscreen in a film project. For most of the supporting cast, the sources available for this update do not establish current work, so this guide separates documented recent activity from older career credits.
Where the main cast stands in 2026
The series was created by Kevin Williamson and followed a group of friends in a small coastal town as they worked through romance, family pressure and the question of what came next. The table below lists the principal cast with the status the sources support as of October 2026. Credits are historical unless the table says otherwise.

James Van Der Beek (Dawson Leery)
Van Der Beek died in February 2026 at age 48. The Associated Press reported that his family announced the death and that he had disclosed colorectal cancer treatment in 2024. The family’s statement, as quoted by AP in its February 11, 2026 report and posted on Instagram, read: “Our beloved James David Van Der Beek passed peacefully this morning. He met his final days with courage, faith and grace.” AP
His later work includes Varsity Blues, CSI: Cyber, What Would Diplo Do?, Dancing with the Stars, and a 2025 appearance as Griffin on The Masked Singer, as AP lists them. These are career highlights rather than current projects.

Katie Holmes and Joshua Jackson (Joey and Pacey)
Holmes and Jackson are the cast’s most visible recent pairing. Netflix and Us Weekly both describe their reunion onscreen in Holmes’s Happy Hours film project, which Netflix’s coverage presents as a trilogy. Netflix Tudum Us Weekly ABC News documented both actors at a New York screening on April 14, 2026. ABC News
These are verifiable recent connections, but they do not outline a full project slate for either actor. Those titles are past credits, not an account of current work.
