The official 2025 recap confirms that Miss Piggy and Rowlf presented awards. It does not say who arranged their appearances or explain why they keep returning.
What happened at the 2025 Game Awards?
The Game Awards’ official recap of the December 2025 ceremony lists Miss Piggy and Rowlf among the presenters at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. It also states: “The Game Awards is executive produced by Geoff Keighley and Kimmie Kim.”
That establishes both the Muppets’ presence at the ceremony and Keighley’s senior production role. It does not establish that he personally booked them or chose them for a particular reason.
Why do the Muppets keep showing up?
The appearances are recurring, rather than a one-time crossover. NPR’s 2024 recap and a Muppet Wiki history page surfaced in accounts of earlier appearances, while the official 2025 recap directly confirms that Miss Piggy and Rowlf were part of that year’s show. The available evidence does not support a complete year-by-year appearance list.

The show’s format offers a plausible explanation for why the Muppets fit. The Game Awards combines awards with game premieres, major announcements and musical performances, as Amazon’s event guide describes. A Muppet appearance can work as a comic or musical variety segment amid those different kinds of entertainment. That is an interpretation of how the bit functions, not a stated reason from the organizers.
Is Geoff Keighley a Muppets fan?
That has not been confirmed by the sources available here. Keighley’s official biography says he created, self-financed, produced and hosted The Game Awards beginning in late 2014. It does not connect his personal fandom to the Muppet appearances.
