Dina survives The Last of Us Part II. She travels to Seattle with Ellie, later returns with her to Jackson, and builds a family with her on a farm. But when Ellie leaves to pursue Abby, Dina says she will not wait for her. The game does not reveal what happens to Dina afterward or confirm whether the two reunite.
Who is Dina to Ellie?
Dina is Ellie’s longtime friend and romantic partner in Jackson. In a 2019 interview, game director Neil Druckmann called Dina “this best friend she’s now had for years” and said the two feel similarly toward each other. Druckmann’s PlayStation.Blog interview describes the relationship that underpins Dina’s role in the story.

What happens to Dina in Seattle?
After Joel’s death, Dina accompanies Ellie to Seattle. She suspects she may be pregnant, and the pregnancy becomes clear during their journey. The child is Jesse’s. Dina survives the Seattle events and returns to Jackson with Ellie. The game’s ending discussion on Naughty Dog’s official podcast, episode 8, recounts the later farm life and the choice that separates the couple.

They make a home together
After Seattle, Dina and Ellie live on a farm near Jackson and raise Dina’s child as a family. Ellie, however, remains deeply affected by trauma and grief. When she decides to leave the farm to pursue Abby, Dina tells her that she will not wait for her again and makes clear that the family they have built matters.

The game leaves their future open
Dina’s life after Ellie leaves is not shown. Co-writer Halley Gross explained in the official podcast that the story intentionally leaves Ellie’s destination uncertain: she might be going to Dina, elsewhere, or back to the Fireflies; the game does not say. No reunion between Ellie and Dina is confirmed, so their final relationship status remains unresolved.
