Linda Reagan, Danny Reagan’s wife, died off-screen in a medevac helicopter crash between Seasons 7 and 8 of Blue Bloods. The Season 8 premiere reveals her death; a Season 9 storyline later identifies cartel figure Jose Rojas as the person who ordered the crash.
Who was Linda Reagan?
Linda was Danny Reagan’s wife and the mother of their children. Amy Carlson played her throughout the first seven seasons. Linda worked as an ER nurse, a role the series brought into the story when she intervened in Danny’s attempt to question a hospitalized witness before surgery in the episode “Ends and Means.” Paramount Press Express’s episode announcement credits Carlson as Linda Reagan and describes the scene.
How did Linda die?
Linda died in a medevac helicopter crash while transporting a patient. The crash occurred between Seasons 7 and 8, and the series does not show the death itself. Instead, viewers learn what happened in the Season 8 premiere. TVLine’s recap of the premiere reports the off-screen reveal.
Who ordered the crash?
The story later connects Linda’s death to Danny’s investigation of the cartel. In Season 9’s “Common Enemies,” the series identifies cartel figure Jose Rojas as the person who ordered the crash, framing it as retaliation. This is a later clarification—not something viewers learn in the Season 8 premiere. TVLine’s recap discusses the Season 9 connection: “Common Enemies” recap.
