Gretchen Rossi left the main cast of The Real Housewives of Orange County after Season 8. In the years away, she pursued fashion and beauty ventures, described social media as a business, and raised a daughter with Slade Smiley. She returned to the franchise in 2025 as a friend of the cast in Season 19. The sources cited here do not establish her casting status after that season.
After Season 8: business, fashion, and social media
Rossi’s work away from the show included fashion and beauty projects as well as social-media content. Bravo’s October 23, 2025 career profile recounts her earlier Gretchen Christine Collection handbags, Gretchen Christine Cosmetics, and Gretchen Christine Swimwear, and notes a social-media collaboration with fashion retailer Avara. That coverage does not establish whether the older branded lines are still operating or available to buy.
In the same Season 19 discussion, Rossi described herself as having “like six different businesses” and said Instagram was “a full-blown business” for her. Those are her descriptions of her work, not independently audited business or income figures. Bravo identifies her as an influencer and content creator.
Rossi’s official biography also describes an earlier career in real estate and interior design, and says she earned a BA in Psychology from Baylor University. It claims she ranked among Coldwell Banker International’s “top 7% of the world for sales in 2005.” That ranking is a statement on her own undated biography page, not an independently corroborated figure in the sources cited here.

Family life with Slade Smiley
Bravo reported in February 2024 that Rossi and Smiley were raising their daughter, Skylar. In a 2024 conversation about how their lives had changed since their earlier years on RHOC, Rossi said, “We’re such different people than we were 10 years ago.”
In July 2025, Bravo reported that Rossi and Smiley were still engaged and had not set a wedding date. Rossi said on Scheana Shay’s podcast that work ventures and their IVF journey, which led to Skylar’s birth, had delayed wedding plans. That is the status and explanation reported at the time; it should not be taken as a current wedding update.

Her return to RHOC in Season 19
Rossi returned to The Real Housewives of Orange County in 2025, joining Season 19 as a friend of the cast rather than returning as a main cast member. Peacock’s May 29, 2025 viewing guide describes the return and points viewers to selected episodes from her earlier run, beginning with her Season 4 introduction and continuing through the Season 8 era. Bravo also described her as appearing in Season 19 in its October 2025 career profile.
Her return marks the clearest on-screen milestone after her departure from the main cast. The sources cited here do not explain why she left after Season 8, nor do they confirm a later role on RHOC after Season 19.
