Reporting says she kept working in upholstery after appearing less often on the show. The available coverage does not establish why her appearances declined, and we could not find a current statement from her or the business confirming what she is doing today.
Who Sue is on the show
Sue appeared on Fast N’ Loud for upholstery work on vehicles brought to Gas Monkey Garage. A 2020 Distractify article identifies her as Yu-Lan Haiso Martin, a name that appears in that outlet’s coverage and not in the other reporting we reviewed. The same article says she was not a Gas Monkey Garage employee. Her role was that of an outside service provider who owned her own shop, which is why her name is tied to the show’s work but not to its crew.
What SlashGear reported about ASM Auto Upholstery
A 2024 SlashGear article is the most detailed account of her business. It reports the following:
- Martin started ASM Auto Upholstery in Dallas in 1990, after upholstering her husband’s 1968 Ford Gran Torino.
- The business began in a 1,000-square-foot garage and later moved into an 8,800-square-foot space.
- SlashGear reported that the business employed nine people.
These are SlashGear’s figures, dated to its 2024 article. We have not independently verified them, and they should not be read as the shop’s current size or staffing.

- Long-Lasting PVC Material & Fade-Resistant Ink for Long-Term Use: The vintage garage signs are constructed from the flexible PVC to help them last longer. You'll never have to worry about them being bent when delivering or in future use. In addition to the PVC material which is resistant to water and rust, these vintage car wall decors are printed with special treated ink, which enables them to maintain good fade resistance both in strong sunlight and heavy rain.
- Duplex Printing with Rustic & Weathered Effects: Out of all the vintage signs for garage you can find, these old car decors are the awesome ones as each piece is double-sided printed with retro images along with a matt finish. They are managed to achieve a retro-weathered appearance both tactilely and visually, with simulated scratches and frayed edges on each side. Try your hand at these signs if you are seeking a more retro sign to highlight your vintage wall decor.
- 5 PCS Vintage Car Signs Set: Consisted of 5 pieces with each measuring 8x12 inches, the signs for garage decor follow along the usual vintage theme seen in many wall art decorations for man caves. They are built on classic oil or car brands advertisement, featuring vintage weathered looks. Hanging these retro signs together or scattered around your space is an easy way to spruce up your personal realm and bring you back to the "good old days."
- Pre-Punched Hole for Easy Decor: There are 4 small holes pre-drilled into each corner of the vintage car decor so that you can simply mount them with a fine rope or screws. You can also liven up your garage space with ease by sticking them to the wall using double-sided tape, as they're lightweight and won't come off easily. Furthermore, the corners of these retro wall decors are rounded to prevent you from getting hurt during installation.
- Retro Room Decor & Unique present: Garage decors for men cave decor have a vintage feel from the classic advertisement image down to the faded weathered detail on the surface. Therefore, they perform well to create a special touch to the man cave, bedroom, backyard, patio, garage, office, cafe, bar, etc. This garage posters set would also be an awesome present. If you know someone who is interested in retro decor, then this old-fashioned sign is right up his alley.
Why her appearances became less frequent
No reliable explanation has been reported. Distractify offers a possible explanation tied to which projects she took on, but it presents that as speculation rather than fact. We found no reporting of a dispute, a severed relationship, or creative disagreement with the Gas Monkey team, and none should be assumed. The only documented point is the change itself: she is visible on the show less often than in its earlier seasons, and the coverage does not say why.

The show’s premise
Fast N’ Loud follows Richard Rawlings and the Gas Monkey Garage crew as they find, restore, and resell classic cars. Discovery describes the show this way, and Pilgrim Media Group likewise describes the restoration-and-resale premise and identifies Rawlings as the owner of Gas Monkey Garage. Sue’s work fit within that process as one of the outside trades used on restoration projects, which helps explain why she appeared in some episodes but was never a regular member of the crew.
