Disney also promoted a home-release featurette called “Wade is Back,” in which Reynolds and Jackman promote a movie—with Reynolds misleading Jackman about which one. The available official description does not establish that this featurette is a clip titled “Watch Deadpool & Wolverine Recap Their Own Movie History.”
What the movie brings together
Reynolds plays Wade Wilson, also known as Deadpool, and Jackman returns as Wolverine. The official premise centers on Wade being pulled back into action to protect his homeworld. Their pairing draws on two connected screen histories: Deadpool’s solo films and Jackman’s long association with Wolverine and the X-Men films made under 20th Century Fox.
Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige described the film as a story about more than its two leads, connecting it to “the history of those Fox characters and of the X-Men characters.” In the same July 25, 2024 interview, he said, “The secret to integrating Deadpool into the Disney company is to let Deadpool be Deadpool.” The Walt Disney Company interview presents the film as a meeting point between Deadpool’s irreverent tone and the wider legacy of the Fox-era characters.
Why Jackman came back as Wolverine
Jackman had said that Logan (2017) would be his final appearance as Wolverine. At the film’s 2024 global press conference, he recalled watching Deadpool three days after announcing that decision and thinking, “Oops.” He later contacted Reynolds about making a film together. D23’s press-conference coverage records Jackman’s recollection of that change of heart.

Reynolds described the character connection this way: “He and Wolverine are more similar than different…” The line, also reported by D23, helps explain the appeal of the pairing: the characters’ clashing styles sit alongside a shared capacity for violence, pain and self-deprecating humor.
Where the “Wade is Back” featurette fits
Disney’s home-release announcement names “Wade is Back” as a featurette and describes a promotional setup in which Reynolds misleads Jackman about which movie they are there to promote. That is a clear actor-to-actor joke, but the announcement does not identify it as a full recap of the pair’s movie histories or confirm the exact clip title in this article’s headline. Treat the featurette description as the closest verified official match, not proof of an identical video.
