The “car crashes” in the title are a metaphor for the event’s ladder collisions, table destruction and run-ins—not a statistic. The five-match card moved between spectacle, a grudge match and a tag-team main event, with mixed results in clarity and finish quality.
Event details and results
WWE held Money in the Bank 2025 on Saturday, June 7, at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. The company announced the venue and date on April 21, 2025. WWE’s event announcement identified On Location as its official fan hospitality partner for the event.
The card had five matches. The official WWE results record these outcomes:
- Naomi won the women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, defeating Alexa Bliss, Giulia, Rhea Ripley, Roxanne Perez and Stephanie Vaquer.
- Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio retained against Octagón Jr.
- Becky Lynch defeated Lyra Valkyria to win the Women’s Intercontinental Championship.
- Seth Rollins won the men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match, defeating Andrade, El Grande Americano, LA Knight, Penta and Solo Sikoa.
- Cody Rhodes and World Heavyweight Champion Jey Uso defeated Undisputed WWE Champion John Cena and Logan Paul.
Women’s ladder match: a busy, effective opener
The opener wastes little time establishing its crowded, anything-can-happen rhythm. WWE’s recap describes ladder attacks around the ring, a pile of ladders covering Ripley at ringside and Vaquer delivering a Devil’s Kiss to Ripley atop a ladder. Naomi clears the final obstacles and retrieves the briefcase, giving the match a clean enough closing image after a deliberately chaotic run of spots.

Forbes contributor Blake Oestriecher called it well-paced and action-packed, rating it 3.75 stars. That is one critic’s judgment, not a measure of broader audience opinion. As an opener, the match succeeds by making the ladder stipulation immediately legible and delivering a decisive winner, even as its many moving parts leave little room for a sustained character story.
Mysterio and Octagón Jr.: a quick reset
After the ladder-match spectacle, Mysterio’s defense is a change of pace. WWE says he retained with a 619 followed by a Frog Splash. Oestriecher described the match as short but sweet and rated it 2 stars. Its compact structure gives the card a breather, but it has less dramatic weight than the two title matches that surround it.

Lynch vs. Valkyria: the card’s disputed title change
The Women’s Intercontinental Championship match supplies the night’s most direct personal rivalry. WWE’s account notes a powerbomb and a Man-handle Slam from the top rope before a late exchange. Lynch then grabbed Valkyria’s tights to secure the pin, ending Valkyria’s reign and taking the title. Valkyria attacked Lynch afterward, carrying the conflict beyond the bell rather than letting the result settle the issue.
Oestriecher rated the match 4 stars, praising the chemistry and arguing that the controversial finish could set up a rematch. The finish gives the title change an immediate hook, but it also makes the result feel less conclusive than a clean victory would. His forecast is a possibility, not confirmation of WWE’s plans.

Men’s ladder match: spectacle crowded by interference
This is the clearest source of the “car crash” image. The official recap records Penta being suplexed through a ladder, a Mexican Destroyer on a ladder, and interference from Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. Jacob Fatu also turns on Solo Sikoa. Amid that chain of disruptions, Rollins reaches the briefcase after countering LA Knight.
The match delivers the card’s densest physical spectacle, but the run-ins complicate the path to the finish: the audience must track a growing number of outside interventions alongside the six competitors’ own efforts. Oestriecher called it an exciting car-crash-style ladder match, while criticizing the amount of interference and calling the outcome predictable. He rated it 4.25 stars. Those reservations point to the match’s trade-off: high-impact action can keep the ring visually alive, but too many interruptions can dilute the central contest.

Main event: table destruction and R-Truth’s return
The tag match between Rhodes and Uso and Cena and Paul begins with miscommunication between the champions’ opponents before building into a run of major moments. Uso spears Cena onto the reinforced announce table; Paul then moonsaults onto Uso through it. Cena strikes Rhodes with the WWE title, but a masked R-Truth reveals himself and hits Cena with the belt. Rhodes follows with Cross Rhodes to pin Cena. WWE’s recap puts the ending plainly: “Moments later, Rhodes executed a match-ending Cross Rhodes on Cena.”
Oestriecher said the match started slowly before picking up, and rated it 3.75 stars. The surprise return is its biggest jolt, while the table spots give the closing stretch a scale to match the ladder bouts. The finish also ties the physical chaos to a clear result: Rhodes pins Cena after the masked attacker changes the momentum.

How the card’s matches compare
The five matches are not trying to do the same job. The ladder bouts prioritize spectacle and briefcase outcomes; Lynch–Valkyria makes a title change and its disputed finish the story; Mysterio–Octagón Jr. provides a short pause; and the main event saves its sharpest surprise for the end. The resulting rhythm is varied, though the men’s ladder match’s multiple run-ins make its central contest less clear than the opener’s.
| Match | Card function | Key payoff |
|---|---|---|
| Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match | Fast, crowded opener built around ladder spectacle | Naomi retrieves the briefcase |
| Dominik Mysterio vs. Octagón Jr. | Brief change of pace | Mysterio retains with a 619 and Frog Splash |
| Becky Lynch vs. Lyra Valkyria | Grudge match centered on the championship | Lynch wins the title with a tights-assisted pin; Valkyria attacks afterward |
| Men’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match | Largest concentration of ladder spots and outside interference | Rollins wins after countering Knight |
| Rhodes and Uso vs. Cena and Paul | Tag-team main event built around miscommunication and a surprise return | R-Truth attacks Cena; Rhodes pins him |
Oestriecher’s ratings offer one critic’s snapshot of that range: he rated the women’s ladder match 3.75 stars, Mysterio–Octagón Jr. 2, Lynch–Valkyria 4, the men’s ladder match 4.25 and the main event 3.75. They should be read as his evaluations of individual matches, not as audience polling or an overall event score.
Verdict
Money in the Bank 2025 earns its chaotic framing through concrete match action rather than a uniform level of quality. Naomi’s opener is energetic and decisive; the Lynch–Valkyria finish creates an immediate controversy; the men’s ladder match pushes spectacle until interference competes with the briefcase story; and the main event closes with table destruction and a genuinely surprising return. The night’s strongest moments are memorable, though not every match balances physical scale with a clean line through its story.
