The sources establish Mandarin Chinese. Cena has described studying the language and using it in public-facing media, including during press appearances and a Mandarin-language apology in 2021. Those examples show public use; they do not amount to a formal assessment of his overall proficiency.
How fluent is John Cena in Mandarin?
In a later interview, Cena described his level in his own terms: “But I studied Mandarin for like a decade, and I would say not even conversationally fluent.” He also said, “So if you were to put something in front of me in Pin Yin right now, I could definitely read it.” These are statements from Cena in a third-party transcript, not results from a standardized language test.
