Land of Bad (2024) stars brothers Liam and Luke Hemsworth in a military survival thriller. The headline’s 65% Rotten Tomatoes figure is a dated snapshot: the cited Rotten Tomatoes profile displayed 66% from critics and 93% from audiences when checked on October 8, 2026. The claim that the film was No. 1 on Netflix is historical, not a verified current ranking.
What is Land of Bad about?
Directed by William Eubank, who co-wrote the screenplay with David Frigerio, Land of Bad follows a covert Special Forces mission in the South Philippines. An ambush turns the operation into a fight to survive and reach extraction: rookie officer JJ Kinney is left outnumbered and must rely on guidance from an Air Force drone pilot operating remotely.

Paramount describes the story as a “brutal 48-hour battle for survival.” The film is an action, adventure and thriller title, rather than a documentary. Paramount’s film page lists its release date as February 16, 2024, its rating as R, and its runtime as 110 minutes.
Which Hemsworth brothers are in the film?
- Liam Hemsworth plays rookie officer JJ Kinney.
- Luke Hemsworth plays Sgt. Abell.
- Russell Crowe plays Air Force Capt. Eddie Grimm, whose call sign is “Reaper.” He guides Kinney from a remote drone-operations role.
Netflix’s listing also identifies the film and describes the rookie soldier’s reliance on a remote drone pilot after the Philippines mission goes wrong.

What is Land of Bad’s Rotten Tomatoes score?
The 65% figure in the headline should not be treated as the film’s current score. On October 8, 2026, the cited Rotten Tomatoes profile for Liam Hemsworth showed Land of Bad at 66% from critics and 93% from audiences. Scores can change as reviews are added, so those are a dated reading, not a permanent rating.
An official Japanese distributor page separately promotes a 94% audience-satisfaction figure. Its page extract does not establish when that figure was measured, so it is not directly interchangeable with the dated Rotten Tomatoes audience score.

Was Land of Bad really No. 1 on Netflix?
Yes, according to a historical claim from the film’s official Japanese distributor, which says Land of Bad reached No. 1 in Netflix’s worldwide ranking while streaming. The available statement does not identify the ranking week, so it supports a past chart achievement—not a claim that the film is No. 1 now. No current chart position or viewing-count total is established here.

Netflix has a title page for the film, but a listing alone does not guarantee that it is available to stream in every country or on a particular date. Check the Netflix title page from your location for current availability; catalog rights vary by territory and can change.
