Two behind-the-scenes photographs posted by executive producer Sabrina Sutherland in late 2024 offer a rare look at the train-car sequence in Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. They add to a clearer picture of the film’s Washington shoot: production began near Seattle in September 1991, and contemporary reporting places the Palmer- and Hayward-house filming in Everett’s Rucker Hill neighborhood. The broad timeline is documented; the precise day each scene was shot is not.
What the 2024 train-car photographs show
On October 26, 2024, executive producer Sabrina Sutherland posted a photograph of Ray Wise as Leland Palmer on the train-car set, holding a knife and searchlight. On November 1, she posted another image from the set showing Frank Silva as Killer BOB. The paired photographs preserve a behind-the-scenes view of the sequence that leads to Laura Palmer’s murder.
The images have been associated with filming at Olallie State Park, outside North Bend, Washington, with the Snoqualmie River visible in the location account’s comparison of the scene and nearby river settings. The photographs themselves establish what the set and performers looked like; they do not establish when the scenes were shot or why the images were taken. The suggestion that the props and costumes made them continuity references is an inference, not a confirmed production explanation. Twin Peaks Blog’s location-history account discusses the images and location.
Where the Everett scenes were filmed
The Palmer and Hayward house scenes were filmed in Everett’s Rucker Hill neighborhood. The Palmer house used in the film is identified as 708 33rd Street; the Hayward house and related street scenes are also in the neighborhood. A location-history report reproduces a September 26, 1991 Daily Herald account of filming there and the disruption reported by residents, including traffic, road closures and production vehicles. That contemporary coverage is evidence that the production was working in the neighborhood, rather than proof of every scene’s exact shooting date. The location-history account includes the newspaper material and its own reconstruction.

What the photographs suggest about specific scenes
The location-history account connects production photographs and visible details in the finished film to streets around Grand Avenue and 33rd Street. It associates scenes such as Laura and Donna walking on Grand Avenue, the “Mike is the Man” exchange, and Laura hiding in bushes after seeing BOB with the Everett locations. It also proposes dates or portions of days for some scenes by comparing shadows, photographs and continuity.
Those scene-by-scene dates should be read as informed estimates, not as a verified shooting schedule. The account says the script supervisor’s notes and the production schedule were unavailable, so the evidence supports a reconstruction rather than a definitive daily call sheet.

A small detail from the neighborhood shoot
In a Daily Herald interview reproduced in the location account, local cast member Marilyn Pettersen recalled that David Lynch wanted the raisins removed from Raisin Bran for a scene. Crew members reportedly picked them out one by one. The anecdote is Pettersen’s recollection as reported by the newspaper, not a production record establishing a date or scene breakdown. The report reproduces the account.
The documented production timeline
Production notes reproduced in a German press kit say filming “began near Seattle on September 4, 1991.” They place the move to Los Angeles four weeks later, where the remainder of the film was made at various locations and in studio, and say production ended at the end of October. These dates describe the broad production itinerary, not the shooting date of each individual scene. The reproduced production notes also include comments from the cast about working on the film.
