Jimmy Kimmel mocked President Donald Trump’s shifting position on releasing Jeffrey Epstein-related files in a Jimmy Kimmel Live! monologue taped before Trump signed the disclosure bill. After it aired, Trump called for ABC to take Kimmel off the air in a late-night Truth Social post. The sequence matters: Kimmel’s segment preceded the signing; Trump’s post followed it.
What Kimmel said about Trump and the Epstein files
In his November 19, 2025, monologue, Kimmel framed public attention to the Epstein files as “Hurricane Epstein” and questioned what Trump knew and when. The Associated Press quoted Kimmel asking: “We are ever closer to answering the question: What did the president know, and how old were these women when he knew it?” AP
That was a rhetorical question in a comedy monologue, not evidence establishing that Trump knew of Epstein’s criminal conduct. The reviewed coverage does not establish that knowledge.
What the Epstein-files bill did—and when it passed
Congress passed legislation requiring the Justice Department to release Epstein-related files. Kimmel had already made the bill and Trump’s changing position on disclosure the subject of jokes in earlier monologues. On November 17, he responded to Trump’s “We have nothing to hide” by saying, “I have some bad news: There’s no ‘We.’ It’s just you, bro,” as reported by TheWrap. TheWrap

In another earlier monologue, Kimmel joked that anyone expecting Trump to release all the files might as well believe Kimmel could sell them “a beautiful East Wing of the White House,” according to The Guardian. The Guardian
Why Trump called for Kimmel to be taken off the air again
After the November 19 episode aired, Trump posted on Truth Social at 12:49 a.m. Eastern, according to AP. He attacked Kimmel’s talent and ratings and urged ABC to remove him. AP quoted the post: “Why does ABC Fake News keep Jimmy Kimmel, a man with NO TALENT and VERY POOR TELEVISION RATINGS, on the air?” It ended: “Get the bum off the air!!!” AP

The ratings language was Trump’s insult, not a substantiated ratings figure in the reporting. This was a renewed attack: Trump had previously expressed anger over Kimmel’s return after ABC’s September 2025 suspension controversy. Forbes
