Full Metal Schoolgirl is a single-player action shooter built around an intentionally ridiculous revenge story and a tower-climbing loop that asks you to start over when you die. Its premise and rough-edged style may appeal to players who enjoy campy, over-the-top action; its reset-driven structure may be harder to love if repeated runs quickly feel like repetition.

What is Full Metal Schoolgirl?

Developed by YUKE’S and published by D3PUBLISHER, Full Metal Schoolgirl launched on October 23, 2025, for Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. It is a single-player action shooter set inside a 100-story corporate tower. YUKE’S describes it as an “exhilarating ‘run-and-gun, hack-and-slash’ action game.”

How the revenge story sets the tone

Two cyborg schoolgirls take on Meternal Jobz, the abusive company they hold responsible for their fathers’ deaths. The tower is populated by zombified employees called the “Working Dead,” turning corporate exploitation into the villainous backdrop for gunfire and sword fights. The premise is deliberately heightened rather than naturalistic; whether that comic-book absurdity sounds appealing is a useful guide to the game’s tone.

The presentation also leans into suggestive themes and fan service. In the United States, the ESRB rates the game Teen for Blood, Mild Language, Suggestive Themes, and Violence. Its summary describes third-person action featuring machine guns, chainsaws, and swords. Check the ESRB rating details.

What happens when a run ends?

The game sends players up a 100-floor skyscraper, with the arrangement changing each time a floor is entered. Death sends the climb back to the first floor. Weapons and enhancements collected during that run are lost, but enemy materials and “Cash Chats” earned through livestreams persist. Those resources can pay for lasting character modifications and ability enhancements, so a failed run can still contribute to a stronger future build. YUKE’S explains the floor and progression systems.

The distinction is central to the game’s appeal: you risk temporary equipment as you climb, while persistent resources give each attempt a longer-term purpose. The publisher’s store description also advertises more than 100 basic equipment and enhancement elements. That is a count of listed options, not independent evidence that every option produces a substantially different play style.

Does the run-based loop stay fun?

PC Gamer’s October 23, 2025 hands-on found the fight-die-upgrade-repeat structure inviting at first, but reported that repeated attempts became monotonous after a couple of runs. The reviewer also described camera sensitivity as awkward on some platforms, while finding the game’s rough-edged style enjoyable. Those are one critic’s observations, not a broad critical consensus, and the available review evidence does not establish how the game performs across all platforms or players. Read PC Gamer’s hands-on.

For players weighing it against other run-based action shooters, the key questions are whether persistent upgrades make a reset feel worthwhile, whether the mix of shooting and close-range sword action stays engaging, and how much tolerance they have for deliberately trashy presentation. The available evidence identifies those as relevant considerations but does not support a direct comparison with other games.
