Rotten Tomatoes currently lists A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) as the highest-rated Wes Craven film on its profile, at 93%, and My Soul to Take (2010) as the lowest, at 11%. Those are profile ratings observed October 8, 2026—not a verified reproduction of Rotten Tomatoes’ separate 2022 guide, whose full 20-film ranking is not available here.
What the 20-film ranking covers
Rotten Tomatoes published a guide titled “All 20 Wes Craven Movies Ranked by Tomatometer”, credited to Alex Vo and marked updated October 31, 2022. Its scope spans Craven’s career, from The Last House on the Left (1972) and The Hills Have Eyes (1977) through A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984), New Nightmare, Scream, Music of the Heart, Red Eye and Scream 4 (2011). The guide identifies Scream 4 as his final movie.
The complete ranked cards from that 2022 guide are not available in the accessible text, so its exact 20-place order and scores cannot be responsibly reproduced. Rotten Tomatoes’ current profile provides a useful, but distinct, snapshot of its ratings; it should not be presented as the missing guide or used to fill in its ranks.
Highest- and lowest-rated films on Craven’s current profile
On October 8, 2026, Rotten Tomatoes’ profile showed A Nightmare on Elm Street (1984) at 93%, the highest Tomatometer score among the Craven films displayed, and My Soul to Take (2010) at 11%, the lowest. The percentages reflect the profile at that point in time and can change.

The same profile also displayed Paris, je t’aime (85%), Scream 2 (83%), Red Eye (80%), Scream (78%), Wes Craven’s New Nightmare (76%), The Hills Have Eyes (69%) and A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors (68%). These are current-profile figures observed October 8, 2026, not confirmed positions in the 2022 guide.
Why Rotten Tomatoes has more than one Craven ranking
A Tomatometer ranking and an audience-score ranking are different measures, and Rotten Tomatoes has published separate Craven lists. Its 2015 retrospective presented a critics’ top ten with A Nightmare on Elm Street first, Scream second and Scream 2 third. It separately listed audience/user scores; in that historical snapshot, A Nightmare on Elm Street had 78% and Scream had 70%, while Music of the Heart (68%), Red Eye (66%) and Wes Craven’s New Nightmare (65%) also led the audience list.

Those 2015 audience figures are historical user-score results, not current Tomatometer percentages. The 2015 critics’ top ten is also a different list from the 2022 guide of 20 movies. Mixing the lists would produce an inaccurate ranking.

The Tomatometer is an aggregated critics’ rating, not a direct measure of artistic quality or a prediction that every viewer will enjoy a film. A higher percentage indicates stronger critic approval within that scoring system; it does not establish that a film is universally preferred over another. For a watchlist, the scores are best treated as one comparison point alongside the kind of film you want to see and where it sits in Craven’s career.
