“I cried within 10 seconds” is a personal reaction, not a promise that every viewer will respond the same way. It captures the immediate emotional force of the premiere for the reviewer—and gives Dragon Ball DAIMA a striking opening benchmark. The series also carries a direct creative connection to Akira Toriyama: official credits say he worked on its original concept, story, and character designs. That makes the premiere a meaningful part of his legacy, though the available official material does not establish that DAIMA was his final work.
What happens in Dragon Ball DAIMA episode 1?
The official series premise sets Goku and his companions on an adventure in the Demon Realm after a conspiracy turns them small. The promotional material identifies Goku (Mini), Supreme Kai (Mini), Glorio, and Panzy as part of that setup. That establishes the series’ broad direction, but it is not a scene-by-scene account of episode 1; the verified information here does not support a more detailed recap.
Why did the premiere make the reviewer cry?
The headline’s “I cried within 10 seconds” describes one reviewer’s response. It should not be read as a measured audience reaction or a claim that viewers generally cry during the opening moments. Without the original review text, the particular scene or storytelling choice behind that response cannot be identified responsibly.
What can be said is that DAIMA begins with a clear emotional and imaginative proposition: familiar characters are displaced into a new realm and reduced in size, setting up a changed kind of adventure. The reviewer’s reaction suggests that the premiere’s opening landed with unusual immediacy for them; the official premise alone does not prove why.

What was Akira Toriyama’s role in DAIMA?
The Dragon Ball Official Site’s September 4, 2024 announcement credits Toriyama with the series’ original concept, story, and character designs. It names Yoshitaka Yashima as director, Aya Komaki as series director, Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru for animation character design, and Yuko Kakihara for series composition and scenario.
Those credits establish a substantial creative role, but they do not establish that DAIMA was Toriyama’s final work. Calling it his “final work” as a definitive fact would require an authoritative biographical source and a clear definition of what counts as a work; the official series announcement cited here does not make that claim. It is more precise to say that DAIMA is a posthumously released anime series on which Toriyama worked extensively.

DAIMA’s strongest verified point of distinction is the combination of Toriyama’s credited story and design work with a new Demon Realm adventure built around the characters being turned small. The emotional claim belongs to the reviewer, while the creative credits and premiere history are documented by official Dragon Ball materials. Together, they make the opening a noteworthy entry in Toriyama’s legacy without requiring an unsupported claim that this was his final work.
