What is Sweet Revenge?
Sweet Revenge is an official short-form Friday the 13th vignette, not a feature-length sequel. Variety described it as the centerpiece of the Jason Universe’s 45th-anniversary campaign. Horror, Inc. produced the short, with filmmaker Mike P. Nelson writing, directing, and producing through Rockford Road Pictures. Variety’s report on the short situates it within the anniversary campaign.
TheWrap identifies stuntman Schuyler White as Jason Voorhees and reports the short’s release date as August 13, 2025. TheWrap described it as Jason’s first on-screen appearance since the 2009 remake. That makes the “return” a return to official filmed material; it does not mean a new theatrical movie has arrived. Is this the new Friday the 13th feature film?
No. The short and the feature project are separate. At San Diego Comic-Con in July 2025, Horror, Inc. vice president Rob Barsamian said the company had no concrete new-film announcement to report. In December 2025, a SlashFilm report said Nelson had pitched his take on a feature and that the project was being worked on. That report does not confirm Nelson as the feature’s director or give a release date.

Barsamian described a new sequel movie and game as priorities, telling SlashFilm: “I can tell you that a new sequel movie and new sequel game are at the top of our list. It’s where most of our energy’s going right now.” This is evidence of the company’s stated priorities, not confirmation that either project has a release date. How does the short balance horror and sponsorship?
Angry Orchard sponsored Sweet Revenge as part of a broader franchise collaboration. In TheWrap’s interview, Nelson acknowledged that the short includes product shots and that alternate takes involving the product were made. He described his own creative priority this way: “For me the movie was always first. And I think everyone wanted that.” That is Nelson’s account of his approach, not an independent measure of how viewers experienced the finished short.
Which Friday the 13th films informed Nelson’s approach?
Nelson said he treated entries 1–4 as canon for his approach to the short, and singled out Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter as his personal benchmark: “1-4 were the canon. ‘The Final Chapter’ is the definitive Jason movie in my opinion.” That is his stated perspective, not a claim of universal fan consensus. Where can you watch Sweet Revenge?
The reporting cited here establishes that the short was released on August 13, 2025, but does not establish its current streaming location or whether it has a physical-media release. The Jason Universe site lists older Friday the 13th films as “Stream or Purchase”; that listing does not confirm where Sweet Revenge can be watched. Check the official Jason Universe site for current franchise information, but do not assume its older-film listings apply to the short.
