Spoilers for Peacemaker season 2, episode 8, “Full Nelson.” Superman does not appear in the finale, and the finale-specific Easter-egg guide identifies eight references—not 20 independently verified finale-only clues. The episode’s key DC connections are the prison world Salvation, a new Checkmate organization, and nods to Salvation Run, Arkham, and other comics.

Does Superman appear in the Peacemaker season 2 finale?

No Superman cameo is identified in “Full Nelson.” The finale’s DCU connections come through Rick Flag Sr.’s alliance with Lex Luthor, his use of Peacemaker’s Quantum Unfolding Chamber (QUC), and the organizations and plans set in motion. Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor appears earlier in season 2, in episode 6—not in the finale.

Before the finale aired, James Gunn said episode 8 included a scene involving actors who also appeared in Superman, as reported by The Independent. That pre-air comment did not confirm that Superman himself would appear, and post-finale coverage does not report a Superman appearance in “Full Nelson.” Treat the finale as a DCU crossover setup, not a Superman cameo.

What happens at the end of “Full Nelson”?

A.R.G.U.S. and Flag use the QUC to explore other dimensions. Flag identifies one world as Salvation and proposes using it as a prison for metahumans—people with extraordinary abilities who could escape ordinary confinement. He has Peacemaker sent there, describing the decision as “due diligence” after Chris killed Flag’s son, Rick Flag Jr. Chris is left without supplies in a hostile, unfamiliar place.

Elsewhere, Adebayo, Peacemaker’s friends, and disaffected A.R.G.U.S. colleagues form Checkmate, a covert organization. The finale thus splits its setup between Peacemaker’s isolation in Salvation and a new team beginning work on Earth. Flag’s plan also reflects Luthor’s anti-metahuman thinking, though Luthor does not appear in the episode.

Eight Easter eggs and comic references in the finale

GamesRadar’s episode-eight guide lists the following eight references. Some are direct on-screen connections; others, such as the zombie-world comparison, are best understood as possible inspiration rather than confirmed adaptations.

  1. Big Belly Burger

The familiar DC fast-food chain appears in the background. In the comics, it is associated with Green Lantern Hal Jordan’s Coast City and with LexCorp ownership.

  2. Nelson

The band playing in the episode is Nelson, fronted by brothers Matthew and Gunnar Nelson, sons of singer and actor Ricky Nelson. It is a music and pop-culture reference, not a DC comics clue.

  3. Door 22

The first dimension A.R.G.U.S. agents enter is labeled Door 22. The number may invite a connection to Earth-22, the setting associated with Kingdom Come, but GamesRadar cautions that the label is not evidence that this dimension is Earth-22.

  4. Otis

Terence Rosemore returns as Otis, one of Luthor’s henchmen from Superman. In the finale, Otis is working with Flag’s operation.

  5. A world overrun by zombies

A QUC portal reveals a zombie-filled world. GamesRadar draws a comparison with DC’s DCeased comics and their follow-ups, but the episode does not confirm that this is the same world or a direct adaptation.

  6. Salvation and Salvation Run

The name of Flag’s prison world points to DC’s 2007–08 series Salvation Run, in which villains are sent to another world and forced to survive. Gunn described the connection as borrowing the concept, not reproducing the comic’s exact storyline. The Ringer quoted him saying, “It really is about the concept.”

If you want to read the source of the premise, Salvation Run is relevant further reading—not a required companion or a direct adaptation guide.

  7. Arkham

Flag invokes Arkham as an example of a prison that has failed to hold its inmates. The name points to Arkham Asylum, Batman’s familiar Gotham institution, and its long history of breakouts.

  8. Checkmate

The name of Adebayo’s new organization comes from DC comics, where Checkmate has a longer history as a covert agency. The finale establishes the show’s own incarnation and lineup; it does not imply that the group has the same leadership, structure, or mission as every comics version.

How the finale connects to DCU continuity

The season-one recap was revised

Season 2’s opening “Previously in the DCU” recap revises the Justice League scene from the season-one finale. As GamesRadar reported, the Justice Gang replaces the earlier Justice League representation: Guy Gardner and Hawkgirl appear in dialogue or close view, while Mr. Terrific, Superman, and Supergirl are represented by silhouettes. Gunn said the change helped fit the earlier series into the DCU, adding, “Almost everything from season 1 has been canon, and there’s a couple of little things that don’t fit in with our DCU.” That is a recap revision, not a Superman appearance in episode 8.

Salvation and Checkmate point toward future stories

TheWrap reports that Gunn considers the Salvation and Checkmate concepts important to his wider DCU story and that they may connect with Lanterns. He also said film-only viewers will not need prior knowledge of Salvation to follow Man of Tomorrow: “I’m not expecting people to go into ‘Man of Tomorrow’ and know what Salvation is, you know? We will say it in the movie.” That signals a planned connection, not a requirement to understand the series finale before watching the film.

Why the headline’s “20 Easter eggs” needs a scope note

The broader season has DC references across multiple episodes, and season-two coverage also discusses the revised season-one recap. But the finale-specific subsection of GamesRadar’s guide lists eight items. Without direct confirmation of additional finale-only clues, it is more accurate to call these eight the documented references in “Full Nelson” than to label them a verified set of 20. Superman-related material from the recap or other episodes should not be counted as a finale cameo.
