What is the plot of “One Last Job”?
Kendall’s script becomes a blueprint
Kendall is writing a screenplay called “One Last Job,” built around a safe robbery. Bill thinks the script is good enough that he fires Kendall, hoping the push will make his friend pursue writing rather than stay at SuperSave. Kendall does not take the hint in the expected way: he teams up with Juice and pitches a version of the robbery scheduled for the day after Black Friday.

Why Charlie investigates
Charlie’s delivery work brings her into the orbit of the store and its people. She is also developing a relationship with Bill, so when he is implicated in the crime, the case is personal as well as a mystery to solve. Salon’s episode commentary highlights the recurring deliveries and small gestures that build Charlie and Bill’s connection; that is a reading of the relationship, rather than a cast or production credit.
