Brian Grazer was associated with the project, but the report did not confirm a production start, release date, cast, or Kiefer Sutherland’s return as Jack Bauer. The film’s current status has not been confirmed by a newer direct studio or producer statement identified here.
Is a 24 movie in production?
Not on the evidence currently available. Variety reported on July 18, 2024, that a feature film based on the television series was in early development at 20th Century Studios, with producer Brian Grazer involved. “Early development” is not the same as filming or a public greenlight. The report did not announce a production schedule or establish that cameras had started. Variety’s July 2024 report is the specific film update supporting that status.

What has been confirmed about the film?
- Project: A feature film based on the 24 television series was reported in early development.
- Studio: The report placed the project at 20th Century Studios.
- Producer association: Brian Grazer was involved, according to the report.
- Details not announced: Variety reported no plot details and no word on whether Kiefer Sutherland would return.
What is still unknown?
The cited report does not establish a finalized script, director, confirmed cast, production schedule, release date, or current studio greenlight. It also does not confirm Sutherland’s participation. There is no basis in that report for treating a particular story, returning character, or release window as settled.
No newer direct statement from the studio or a producer confirming the film’s status is established by the available reporting. That lack of confirmation does not prove the project was cancelled; it means its present status remains unconfirmed.

Does the 2026 revival discussion confirm the movie?
No. A September 30, 2026, ComingSoon report discussed Kiefer Sutherland and the possibility of a 24 revival. That is a separate television-revival thread, not an announcement that the feature film has been greenlit or is moving into production. The two should not be treated as the same project.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What should fans expect next?
Until the studio or a project representative provides a direct update, the defensible description is that the film was reported in early development in July 2024 and has no confirmed release date or production start. Claims about a returning Jack Bauer, a plot, or a schedule would be speculation rather than confirmed film news.
