Resident Alien Season 4: Why Jay’s Episode 4 Appearance Makes Sahar Feel Missing

Jay is listed in “Truth Hurts,” but the episode coverage centers on other characters. Sahar’s earlier relationship impasse with Max makes her a plausible—not confirmed—answer to who feels missing.

Jay is listed among the guest cast for Resident Alien Season 4, Episode 4, “Truth Hurts,” but the episode’s official coverage focuses on Harry, Mike and D’arcy. That contrast can make another character’s absence feel more conspicuous—especially Sahar, whose unresolved relationship with Max was foregrounded in the preceding episode. Sahar is a plausible reading of the “missing character” question, not a confirmed identification.

What Episode 4 puts on screen—and what its coverage emphasizes

“Truth Hurts,” Season 4, Episode 4, aired June 27, 2025. The episode’s guest-cast listing includes Jay, played by Kaylayla Raine. That listing confirms her presence, but it does not describe her scene or establish how long she appears. USA Network’s episode feature instead spotlights several emotional threads: Harry and Heather’s breakup after Harry loses his powers and becomes human; Sheriff Mike’s regret over not believing Deputy Liv and his choice to tell Lena he loves her; and D’arcy’s return to drinking as she faces a difficult stretch.

Those are the documented points of comparison: Jay is in the cast listing, while the official feature foregrounds other characters’ stories. The available descriptions do not establish that Jay’s appearance is especially long or important, nor do they prove that another character was deliberately left out. The feeling that someone is missing is an interpretation of the episode’s emphasis, not a production explanation.

Why Sahar is a plausible character to miss

Sahar stands out because the episode immediately before “Truth Hurts” framed her connection with Max as unfinished. In a June 2025 interview about Episode 3, USA Network described Max and Sahar as former alien-hunting best friends facing a relationship impasse. That setup gives viewers a reason to expect their dynamic to keep developing.

Against that earlier focus, Episode 4’s attention to other characters can make the lack of comparable follow-through feel sharper. That is a viewer-facing reading of the season’s storytelling, not confirmation that Sahar is the title’s intended missing character or that the show’s creators meant to sideline her. The available episode material does not explain why her thread receives less attention here.

Episode 4’s other emotional arcs

Harry and Heather

USA Network describes Harry and Heather’s relationship ending after Harry loses his powers and becomes human. Showrunner Chris Sheridan said of Harry’s change: “And [Alan] becomes 2 percent more human in how he interacts with people, which is a very subtle acting here, too.” The comment is Sheridan’s description of Alan Tudyk’s performance and Harry’s behavior, not an explanation of Sahar’s absence.

Mike, Liv and Lena

Corey Reynolds described Sheriff Mike’s regret about not believing Deputy Liv: “I think he feels bad in many ways with how he didn’t believe Deputy Liv, and how he felt like he maybe let her down in that sense.” USA Network’s episode feature also points to Mike expressing love to Lena. Together, those beats give the official recap a clear focus on Mike’s remorse and relationships.

D’arcy’s unraveling

The feature characterizes D’arcy as returning to drinking amid a run of losses. Alice Wetterlund said she wanted to portray “someone going through the arc of many, many, many bad decisions and then facing the consequences of those decisions.” She added that D’arcy’s process happens internally: “There are some really big screw ups that she has to face in Season 4, but there’s also an unraveling internally that’s happening. She’s at an impasse. She really can’t go on the way she’s been going.” Her remarks describe D’arcy’s arc, rather than a broader explanation for how the episode allocates screen time.

What the evidence does—and does not—settle

The cast listing and episode feature support a limited but useful conclusion: Jay appears in “Truth Hurts,” and the official feature emphasizes Harry and Heather, Mike, and D’arcy. Episode 3’s coverage gives viewers grounds to notice a gap in attention to Max and Sahar’s relationship. It does not establish that Sahar is definitively the “great missing character,” that her absence was intentional, or that scheduling, budget or another production decision caused it.

For viewers who want to revisit the episode, USA Network says Resident Alien episodes stream on Peacock, and Peacock’s Season 4 catalog lists “Truth Hurts.” Catalog availability can vary by territory and change over time.
