Rebecca Ferguson has not named the former co-star she says screamed at her on a film set. She described the encounter on the podcast Reign with Josh Smith in 2024, and Dwayne Johnson—her co-star in Hercules (2014)—later praised her for standing up for herself and said he wanted to know who had done it. Johnson did not identify the person, and neither did Ferguson.
What Rebecca Ferguson said happened
On Reign with Josh Smith, Ferguson recalled that a former co-star became angry because, in her account, the person could not get the scenes right. She said the actor was “number one on the call sheet” and that she felt vulnerable and unsupported when they screamed at her in front of the crew. Ferguson said the person questioned whether she could act and asked, “This is what I have to work with?” She recalled, “And I would cry walking off set.”
Ferguson said she returned the following day and confronted the actor. She recalled telling them, “You get off my set,” and saying she would work toward a tennis ball rather than face them. According to her account, producers required the other actor to remain on the project, but she was allowed to perform facing away from them. She also said the director later acknowledged that the production had been prioritizing the unstable person rather than looking after everyone else. These details are Ferguson’s recollection; the actor and production have not been identified.
What Dwayne Johnson said
After Ferguson’s story circulated, Johnson posted a message of support. He called her his “guardian angel” from their time working together on Hercules and wrote, “I’d like to find out who did this.” His response expressed support for Ferguson, but did not name the person or connect the incident to Hercules.

Did Ferguson identify the actor?
No. Ferguson later clarified that identifying the person was not the point of telling the story. As reported by The Independent on April 15, 2024, she said, “The point of the interview wasn’t about finding the person.” She described the incident as a moment when she learned to stand up for herself and said she did not intend to throw anyone under the bus.
Ferguson has ruled out Hugh Jackman, Tom Cruise, and Ryan Reynolds. Those exclusions do not establish who the actor was, and there is no basis in her account for naming another performer or guessing at the production. She has also described the cast and crew of Dune: Part Two as kind and professional; that film should not be presented as the setting of the incident.
