Inside Out 3 has not been officially announced in the Pixar and Disney materials reviewed as of October 8, 2026. There is no confirmed release date, cast, director, production status, or story. That means the film is unannounced—not that Pixar has ruled it out or that private discussions have never taken place.
Is Inside Out 3 confirmed?
No. Pixar’s official feature-film list includes Inside Out 2 but does not list a third film. Disney’s account of its August 2026 D23 showcase highlights Pixar projects including Incredibles 3 and Gatto, but does not announce Inside Out 3 in its Pixar segment (Disney’s D23 2026 recap).
Those public sources support the conclusion that Inside Out 3 has not been officially announced as of October 8, 2026. They cannot establish whether Pixar or Disney has discussed the idea privately. Claims that the film is confirmed, greenlit, in production, or scheduled for a particular year are not supported by these announcements.
When could Inside Out 3 come out?
There is no official release date or window. The dates of the first two films do not provide a reliable schedule for a third: Inside Out opened in the United States on June 19, 2015, and Inside Out 2 on June 14, 2024, according to Disney’s pages for the first film and the sequel. That interval is release history, not evidence of a repeating production cycle.

- Disney and Pixar?s ?Inside Out 2? returns to the mind of newly minted teenager Riley just as headquarters is disrupted by something entirely unexpected: new Emotions! Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear and Disgust aren?t sure how to feel when Anxiety and friends show up.
What is confirmed about the first two films?
| Film | U.S. release | Confirmed creative and story details |
|---|---|---|
| Inside Out | June 19, 2015 | Directed by Pete Docter. Disney’s official film page establishes the release date and director. |
| Inside Out 2 | June 14, 2024 | Directed by Kelsey Mann and produced by Mark Nielsen. The story returns to Riley’s mind as she enters adolescence and introduces new emotions, including Anxiety. Pixar’s official film page and Disney’s project profile confirm these details. |
That sequel’s adolescent setting and new emotions describe Inside Out 2; they do not establish the premise or characters of a possible third film. Disney announced that Inside Out 2 would begin streaming on Disney+ on September 25, 2024 (Disney+ press release, September 12, 2024). That historical announcement does not confirm present availability in every region.
What might a third film be about?
No story, character focus, life stage, or new-emotion lineup for a third film has been announced. It is not known whether Riley would remain central, how old she might be, or whether the perspective would shift. Proposed plots and character lists should be treated as fan speculation, not confirmed details.
Pixar chief creative officer Pete Docter offered context about how much of the fictional world the original film had explored. In a TIME interview published June 11, 2024, he said, “We only saw like 3% of it in the first film.” That was an informal remark about the world’s scope, not a measured statistic or a promise that another movie is planned (TIME interview).
Who would be in Inside Out 3?
No cast, director, writer, or producer has been announced for a third film. The people credited on Inside Out 2 cannot be assumed to return. Pixar has also not announced whether a third movie would be released theatrically or through another distribution plan.

What should viewers watch for next?
The most useful public status checks are Pixar’s feature-film list and Disney’s D23 showcase recap. A future official announcement could change the status, date, and other details; until then, no third-film timetable or creative team is confirmed.
