Cobra Kai Season 6 Part 3 Review: A Deeply Satisfying Ending for Its Characters

Johnny’s All Valley win delivers the climax, but Cobra Kai’s finale earns its warmth in the quieter scenes—and gives its younger characters room to move on.

Spoilers for the series finale. Cobra Kai ends with the victory its story has been building toward: Johnny Lawrence returns to the All Valley mats and wins, not by rejecting what he learned from Daniel, but by combining Cobra Kai offense with Miyagi-Do defense. The tournament delivers the series’ bruising climax; a shared dojo and a meal between old rivals deliver its gentler, more convincing promise. Across the ensemble, the final episodes provide enough futures and reconciliations to make this feel like a real ending—not just Johnny’s victory lap.

Netflix released the final five episodes on February 13, 2025. They complete a 15-episode sixth and final season, bringing the six-season series to 65 episodes, as described by TheWrap. Netflix’s season guide presents all three parts as one season; its synopsis frames the final stretch around the dojos reckoning with their past after a shocking Sekai Taikai result.

Johnny’s victory resolves the series’ oldest wound

Johnny’s final fight works because the show makes it about more than a tournament result. The boy who lost to Daniel in the 1984 All Valley has spent the series carrying that defeat as a definition of himself. Here, with the dojo teams tied, he represents Cobra Kai in a tiebreaker against Sensei Wolf. He wins by drawing on both styles he once treated as opposites: Cobra Kai’s aggression and Miyagi-Do’s defense.

That blend is the emotional answer to the rivalry at the heart of The Karate Kid and Cobra Kai. Johnny does not erase his past or become Daniel. He reaches the All Valley mats as a changed person, with Daniel’s support and a fuller understanding of what strength can mean. Co-creator Jon Hurwitz told Netflix Tudum that the writers wanted Johnny back on those red mats for a victory that felt pure after he and Daniel had worked through their issues. That intention lands: the win feels like a payoff to Johnny’s arc, not simply a reversal of the original film’s result.

Cobra Kai - Season 06
  • This season, with Cobra Kai eliminated from the Valley, our senseis and students must decide if and how they will compete in the Sekai Taikai — the world championships of karate.

The fight is deliberately rougher than a tidy sports-movie finale. Co-creator Josh Heald told TheWrap it was meant to be “bloodier” and “sweatier,” comparing its feel to Rocky IV. The physical cost gives the climax urgency, while the victory’s meaning stays personal.

The epilogue is what makes the ending feel complete

After the tournament, the show steps away from spectacle. Johnny and Daniel run their dojos together, and the two men share a meal. It is a small, ordinary image after an outsized fight—and exactly the right scale for the final note. The rivalry does not vanish; the men will still irritate each other. But they can now share a life and a purpose without needing one to defeat the other.

Heald described Johnny’s closing speech as showing “a balance in the Valley again,” according to Netflix Tudum. The epilogue makes that balance tangible: not a new threat or a last-minute twist, but a future in which the old rivals can teach together. The contrast between the hard-fought tiebreaker and the meal is the finale’s smartest structural choice. Johnny earns the emotional climax; quiet scenes let the rest of the story breathe.

The younger characters get futures beyond the tournament

A series finale cannot rest entirely on its original rivalry. These final episodes give the students outcomes that point beyond the dojo, even if some are tidier than life usually is. TIME’s account of where the characters end up helps show the breadth of those resolutions.

Miguel and Sam choose what comes next

Miguel steps into the boys’ final for Cobra Kai, wins the world title, and learns that he has been accepted to Stanford. The combination gives him both a sporting payoff and a next step after high school. Sam, meanwhile, chooses a one-year program in Okinawa, inspired by her father’s experiences there. Miguel supports her and plans to join her for the first weeks. Her tournament choices also reflect her reconciliation with Tory: Sam can make room for someone else rather than treating every contest as a test of her own worth.

Robby and Tory find their way back to connection

Robby’s tournament ambitions are disrupted by injury, but the finale does not leave his story defined by the setback. His relationship with Tory remains intact. Tory, who has been grieving and isolated, reconnects with friends and competes in the girls’ final. Their endings are not neat erasures of pain; they are signs that both can move forward with people beside them.

Hawk and Demetri repair their friendship

Hawk and Demetri’s disagreement over college plans has been repaired by the closing stretch. Their friendship and college futures matter because they show the students’ lives continuing outside the tournament and the rivalries that once consumed them.

Daniel’s resolution is about what Miyagi-Do means

Daniel’s role in the climax is not to reclaim the spotlight. He encourages Johnny and accepts that Miyagi-Do does not need to win the tournament for its values to endure. Revelations about Mr. Miyagi have unsettled Daniel’s idealized image of his mentor; the finale leaves him with a more mature understanding of the lessons rather than a demand that the past stay uncomplicated. Supporting Johnny’s final fight becomes part of that growth. Daniel can honor Miyagi without turning the honor into a trophy.

The happy endings are satisfying, if unusually tidy

The finale is generous with closure. Miguel has a title and a university place; Sam has a new direction; Robby and Tory remain together; Hawk and Demetri recover their friendship; Johnny and Daniel share a dojo. That abundance suits a show that has always favored big emotional turns, but it also makes the ending feel carefully arranged. TIME describes the close as a string of happy endings and notes that some viewers may feel the series outlasted its welcome. The concern is fair: not every outcome carries the ambiguity or cost of the fight itself.

Still, the younger cast is not reduced to a crowd cheering for Johnny. Their futures are distinct, and the important relationships receive attention. The series’ legacy passes to them, even if the final image belongs to the adults who began the story. The balance is not perfect—Johnny’s All Valley win naturally dominates—but the epilogue gives the ensemble enough room that the show ends as a character story, not just a martial-arts victory lap.

Kreese’s ending keeps redemption complicated

John Kreese’s movement toward Johnny reads as an attempt at redemption, but it is not a clean absolution. TIME notes that Kreese’s choice regarding Terry Silver remains morally compromised. That distinction matters: Johnny’s emotional closure does not excuse Kreese’s history, and an act of amends does not undo harm. The finale is strongest when it lets a character move toward change without pretending that change settles every moral debt.

Verdict: a near-perfect character ending

Cobra Kai gives its central character the victory he has long needed, then wisely refuses to make the trophy the last word. Johnny’s win matters because it grows out of reconciliation; the shared dojo and meal matter because they show what that reconciliation makes possible. The students receive credible next chapters, Daniel finds a less brittle way to honor Miyagi, and Kreese’s resolution retains an uncomfortable edge.

Some of the outcomes are polished enough to feel like gifts from the writers, and Johnny’s climax is the clear centerpiece. But the series earns its final warmth by returning to the wound that started it and showing its characters able to live beyond it. For a show about rivalry, legacy, and second chances, that is a deeply satisfying place to stop.
