Crunchyroll president Rahul Purini said in May 2026 that the next film was in production, but that a date had not been set. That means 2027 is a possibility, not a confirmed or evidence-backed release year.
What is confirmed about Part 2?
The Infinity Castle adaptation is planned as a trilogy of theatrical films. In a GamesRadar+ interview, Crunchyroll president and CEO Rahul Purini said the first film was out and two more remained. He also said the next film was actively in production and the studio wanted to bring it to fans quickly, while making clear that there was no release date yet. Read the interview at GamesRadar+.
Purini’s comments are a reported interview, not a dated announcement from Aniplex or ufotable. The trilogy plan is also described in the Crunchyroll and Sony Pictures Entertainment distribution announcement, which says the films will receive worldwide theatrical distribution, excluding Japan and select Asian territories.
Why 2027 is not confirmed
Production being underway does not establish a release year. The available statement gives no schedule, and no official 2027 date or release-year announcement is established here. Until Aniplex, ufotable, the official Demon Slayer site, or a distributor announces timing, reports that place Part 2 in 2027 should be treated as speculation.

- Tanjiro Kamado, joined with Inosuke Hashibira, a boy raised by boars who wears a boar's head, and Zenitsu Agatsuma, a scared boy who reveals his true power when he sleeps, board the Infinity Train on a new mission with the Fire Pillar, Kyojuro Rengoku, to defeat a demon who has been tormenting the people and killing the demon slayers who oppose it!
There are also no confirmed dates to compare for Japan and international theatrical releases, or for a later home-video or streaming debut. A theatrical release in one territory would not, by itself, establish when the film would arrive elsewhere or on streaming.
How Part 2 fits the story
The trilogy adapts the manga’s final arc. Netflix Tudum describes Part 1 as the continuation after the Hashira Training Arc, with the Demon Slayers drawn into Muzan’s Infinity Castle. That provides context for the films, but it does not confirm specific Part 2 plot details or timing. Netflix Tudum’s overview focuses on Part 1.
