The Super Bowl-period trailer promoted Knuckles, a six-episode live-action series set in the Sonic film universe. Its central pairing is an unlikely mentor-and-protégé one: Knuckles agrees to train Green Hills deputy Wade Whipple in the ways of the Echidna warrior.
What is Knuckles about?
Paramount billed Knuckles as the first television series in its expanding “Cinematic World of Sonic the Hedgehog.” Idris Elba voices Knuckles, the formidable echidna warrior, while Adam Pally plays Wade Whipple. The pairing is an odd-couple setup, not a promise that the show is primarily a friendship drama. Knuckles has finished his quest for the Master Emerald and is adjusting to life on Earth. Wade, a Green Hills deputy who feels overlooked, wants to become the kind of warrior Knuckles believes he can be.
Where does the series fit in the Sonic movie timeline?

What did the trailer announce?
Paramount announced the official trailer on February 8, 2024, presenting the series as a live-action expansion of the Sonic film continuity. Showrunner and executive producer Toby Ascher described the production goal this way: “From the very beginning, it was really important to make sure that all TV shows in the Sonic Universe look and feel exactly the same as the movie, so we prided ourselves in making a TV show that has the scale, animation quality, heart and comedy that viewers loved in the Sonic movies,” Paramount’s series materials
When did Knuckles launch, and where?
At launch, Paramount+ scheduled the series for April 26, 2024, in the United States and Canada, and April 27 in other Paramount+ territories. Japan was listed for later in 2024.
