Lucasfilm’s limited anniversary engagement began April 25, 2025, and has ended. The one-week re-release brought George Lucas’s concluding prequel film to select U.S. theaters and international territories, including a first-ever 4DX presentation for the film.
When did the anniversary screenings happen?
Lucasfilm announced that Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith would return to theaters on Friday, April 25, 2025, for one week. The engagement was a short anniversary event, not an ongoing theatrical run. The original announcement is available from StarWars.com; Disney had also announced the re-release on February 25, 2025.
Which theaters and formats were included?
The screenings were scheduled for select U.S. theaters and international territories. Lucasfilm named AMC, Alamo Drafthouse, B&B, Cinemark, Fandango, Galaxy, Harkins, Marcus, Megaplex and Regal Showcase among the U.S. exhibitors. That list did not identify every participating theater or every international location, and it should not be read as a complete venue directory.
The film was offered in several theatrical formats, including 4DX for the first time. Lucasfilm described 4DX as motion chairs synchronized with more than 21 effects designed to complement the movie. The announcements do not establish that every participating location offered every format. Lucasfilm’s original Fandango ticket link was for the 2025 event; it is not a current ticket opportunity.

What is the film about?
Written and directed by George Lucas, Revenge of the Sith is the final film in the Star Wars prequel trilogy. Set during the Clone Wars and a period of political crisis, it follows Anakin Skywalker’s turn to the dark side and transformation into Darth Vader as the Jedi Order is decimated, the Republic crumbles and the Galactic Empire rises. Lucasfilm calls it “The critical chapter in the story of Anakin Skywalker.”
The film’s cast includes Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen, Ian McDiarmid, Frank Oz, Jimmy Smits, Peter Mayhew, Ahmed Best, Oliver Ford Davies, Temuera Morrison, Anthony Daniels, Silas Carson and Kenny Baker; Samuel L. Jackson and Christopher Lee are also named by Lucasfilm. Its defining confrontation includes Obi-Wan Kenobi’s line: “You were supposed to destroy the Sith, not join them!”
