In Pokémon Horizons, Ult is introduced as a new Trainer connected to Roy and a Sableye that appears to Mega Evolve. The official U.S. Season 3 page calls Ult “a brash young Trainer who considers Roy his rival.” The Mega Voltage arc was announced to begin in Japan on April 11, 2025; official material confirms those central details but does not provide a full biography or complete account of Ult’s team.
What is the Mega Voltage arc?
Mega Voltage is a new arc of the Pokémon Horizons anime announced by The Pokémon Company’s Japanese official site on April 4, 2025. The announcement set its Japanese start for April 11, 2025, and introduced a time jump featuring grown-up Liko, Roy, and Dot, alongside the new character Ult. The official Japanese announcement describes the arc’s key character and Pokémon reveals.
The same announcement pairs Roy with a yellow Shiny Lucario and Ult with Sableye, which appears to Mega Evolve. It establishes the arc’s premise and those visual associations, but does not explain the full circumstances of the characters’ reunion or the Mega Evolution.
Who is Ult in Pokémon Horizons?
The official U.S. Season 3 page describes Ult as “a brash young Trainer who considers Roy his rival.” That is the clearest official characterization available in the cited English-language listing: Ult is positioned in relation to Roy as a rival, but the wording does not establish whether their rivalry is friendly, hostile, or something that changes over time. The Season 3 listing also names an episode centered on Ult.

The official material reviewed here does not establish Ult’s age, origin, full backstory, or motivations beyond the brief description in a Netflix announcement that he wants to befriend the mysterious Pokémon in his Dusk Ball. Claims about those details should not be treated as confirmed based on these sources.
Is Ult Roy’s rival?
Yes. The Pokémon Company International’s official U.S. Season 3 description explicitly says Ult considers Roy his rival. The Japanese arc announcement independently introduces Ult as a new character alongside grown Roy, but it does not give the same detailed rival characterization. The official wording confirms the relationship label, not the history or tone of their rivalry.

What Pokémon does Ult have?
The Japanese announcement associates Ult with Sableye and says it appears to Mega Evolve. The available official sources do not establish that Sableye is Ult’s only Pokémon or provide a complete team roster. The announcement’s phrasing is about what appears in the arc material, so it should not be expanded into a detailed account of how or when Mega Evolution occurs.
What is “Mega Evolution – Ult”?
“Mega Evolution – Ult” is listed as Season 3, Episode 24 on the official U.S. Season 3 page. That episode number belongs to the U.S. season listing; it does not establish that Japanese broadcast chronology or arc episode numbering uses the same count.

Yes, in a separate time-limited promotion. Pokémon UNITE’s official Asia site announced a Pokémon Horizons event in June 2026, with Ult and Sableye appearing in Solo Mode. The event closed July 1, 2026, so it is historical rather than a currently available activity. This cross-promotion does not add confirmed details about Ult’s anime biography.
