A new Onyx Storm Collector’s Edition with an embossed cover, signed booklet, artwork and behind-the-scenes material has not been verified by the retailer listings available here. Target lists two other editions: a Wing and Claw Collection with sprayed, stenciled edges, and a separate Target-exclusive hardcover. Neither listing confirms those alleged extras or a $75 price. Until the publisher or Rebecca Yarros announces the claimed edition, readers should treat its features and price as unconfirmed.
What is confirmed about a new Collector’s Edition?
A TechYorker article published January 6, 2026 describes a new Collector’s Edition and claims it includes an embossed cover, a signed booklet, limited-edition artwork and behind-the-scenes material for about $75. The Target listings examined do not substantiate those specifics. The publisher page redirected to a short URL and did not provide usable announcement details, so that access issue is not proof that no new edition exists. A direct publisher or author announcement would be needed to confirm the claim. TechYorker’s article; publisher page.
No verified print run, edition-specific sales figure or resale-price data was found for the alleged edition. Treat claims about scarcity or inflated prices with the same caution: the available evidence does not establish them.
Which Onyx Storm editions are listed by Target?
| Edition | What Target says | Availability and scope |
|---|---|---|
| Onyx Storm (Wing and Claw Collection) | Deluxe limited edition with sprayed edges featuring stenciled artwork and “exclusive special design features.” The listing does not specify a signed booklet, behind-the-scenes material, an embossed cover or numbered copies. | Target says available while supplies last in the United States and Canada. Price and stock can change; check the listing directly. |
| Onyx Storm — Target Exclusive Edition | A separate hardcover marked Target-only. It is a distinct retailer-exclusive listing, not evidence of a newly announced 2026 Collector’s Edition. | It showed out of stock when accessed; the listing also offered standard-edition alternatives. Check current status with Target. |

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
What should buyers check before paying a premium?
- Confirm the exact edition. Match the name on the seller listing to the copy being offered; “limited,” “exclusive” and “collector’s” are not interchangeable proof of a particular set of features.
- Separate design from added content. Sprayed edges and stenciled artwork are physical design features. A signed booklet or behind-the-scenes material would be added content, but those items are not confirmed for the newly alleged edition by the listings above.
- Check seller, region, price and stock at checkout. Target’s stated supply terms apply to its Wing and Claw listing in the United States and Canada. Availability and prices can change, and the available pages do not establish a current price for either listing.
- Look for a primary announcement. A publisher or author announcement naming the edition and its contents is stronger confirmation than an article repeating unverified claims.
For readers who mainly want the story, a design change may not add reading material. Collectors may value a particular finish or retailer-exclusive copy, but whether that warrants a premium depends on the buyer; no verified print-run figure or edition-specific resale data establishes scarcity here.
Why did deluxe editions attract attention at launch?
A Minnesota Star Tribune report syndicated through Tribune News Service said Onyx Storm sold 2.7 million copies in its first week after its January 2025 release. The report described midnight release events and booksellers’ observations that deluxe sprayed-edge copies helped draw customers into stores. That launch context does not confirm a later Collector’s Edition. Minnesota Star Tribune / Tribune News Service report.

Patrick Nathan, identified in the report as Subtext’s manager and a novelist, said of the 2025 launch: “It’s bringing people into store. I’ve heard from multiple people that basically Amazon failed them on this title, which makes me happy.” This is about customers’ launch-period ordering experiences, not current Amazon availability.
Brie Taralson, owner of Lykke Books in New Ulm, Minnesota, offered her own observation: “A lot of it is this whole sprayed-edges [deluxe edition] thing. I think people are returning to reading and also returning to buying physical books.” It is a bookseller’s perspective, not a measured industry statistic.

What remains unknown
The available evidence does not establish whether the specific new edition described by TechYorker exists, what it contains, what it costs, or how many copies were printed. It also does not establish an edition-specific sales or resale-price trend. Until a publisher or author announcement supplies those details, the confirmed comparison is limited to the two distinct Target listings and their stated features.
