Georgia Flood plays Humility Lucas, Céline Menville plays Loti, and Thierry Frémont plays engineer Gustave Benoit. The story follows Nemo and a crew of prisoners aboard a stolen prototype submarine.
Captain Nemo and his leadership arc
Shazad Latif plays Captain Nemo. In this series, Nemo is an Indian prince who has been robbed of his birthright and family, imprisoned by the East India Mercantile Company, and driven by revenge. He steals a prototype submarine and escapes with fellow prisoners, but must earn their trust as he pursues Viking treasure at the Pillars of Halvar. AMC’s 2025 series announcement describes the show as an origin story for the iconic captain.
Humility Lucas, Loti and the submarine’s architect
- Georgia Flood as Humility Lucas: A privileged daughter of the British Empire who is taken hostage aboard the Nautilus.
- Céline Menville as Loti: Humility’s world-weary minder.
- Thierry Frémont as Gustave Benoit: A French engineer and the submarine’s architect. AMC’s 2025 cast announcement bills him simply as Benoit.
These character descriptions come from Disney’s 2022 casting announcement, which introduced the series as a telling of Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea from Nemo’s point of view. Read Disney’s cast announcement.

How the series relates to Jules Verne
Nautilus is inspired by Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, but its framing is an origin story rather than a straightforward account of the novel’s plot. AMC’s synopsis centers on Nemo’s escape from a penal colony with fellow prisoners, his attempt to reach treasure buried at the Pillars of Halvar, and the challenge of winning the crew’s confidence while avoiding the company pursuing them.
Original U.S. release schedule
AMC announced a ten-episode season in 2025: two episodes premiered in the United States on June 29, followed by weekly Sunday episodes and a two-episode finale on August 17. Those dates describe the original announced schedule, not current viewing availability. AMC’s premiere announcement and the official trailer announcement provide the schedule details.
