Why Peter David mattered to comics
David worked across Marvel, DC, and independent publishers, bringing a distinctive mix of character-focused storytelling and humor to superhero comics. He began his career in Marvel’s direct sales department before writing his first Spider-Man story in The Spectacular Spider-Man #103. That was followed by “The Death of Jean DeWolff,” a notable Spider-Man story, and then a long stretch writing the Hulk.
