Ava Pearl won the Week 5 Head of Household competition on Big Brother 27 and initially nominated Vince Panaro, Keanu Soto, and Zach Cornell. The nominations were revealed in the August 10, 2025 episode. They were the initial nominees, not necessarily the final eviction candidates.
Who won Week 5 HOH, and who was nominated?
Ava Pearl won the Head of Household competition and nominated Vince Panaro, Keanu Soto, and Zach Cornell. TV Insider and Just Jared independently reported the same initial lineup.
CBS’s guide identifies Episode 16, which aired August 10, 2025, as the eliminator HOH competition. Its synopsis asks, “It’s an eliminator Head of Household competition… Who will be the last player standing and which Houseguests will hit the block next?” (CBS Season 27 episode guide.)
How Ava won the HOH competition
TV Insider described the competition as a knockout contest with paired rounds: players watched a video and answered a question about the number of dips shown—guacamole, salsa, and queso. Ava entered late in the competition, then defeated Rachel Reilly and Clifton “Will” Williams to become HOH, according to the outlet’s August 11 nominations recap.

Why Ava chose these nominees
TV Insider reported that Ava first considered nominating Ashley Hollis alongside Keanu and Vince, but allies talked her out of that plan. The recap says Ava then chose Zach as the third nominee after telling him he was “good” for the week. Treat that sequence as the outlet’s account of her deliberations, rather than a direct statement from Ava.
ComingSoon reported that Ava interpreted the nominees’ reactions to her HOH win as signs of distrust, particularly Vince’s. That was the rationale attributed to her in ComingSoon’s August 11 report.

Initial nominations versus the veto and eviction
The three names above describe the initial nominations. The lineup could change after the Power of Veto competition, so being nominated at this point does not establish who ultimately faced eviction.
- August 10, Episode 16: The HOH competition and nomination reveal.
- August 13, Episode 17: The veto episode; CBS’s guide mentions Zach’s “BB buy off.”
- August 14, Episode 18: The BB Blockbuster and eviction episode.
TV Insider and ComingSoon reported that Zach had won $10,000 in Week 1 and could offer that prize to the HOH to be removed from the block, which would require a replacement nominee. That reported option should not be mistaken for proof that he used it or for confirmation of the final eviction lineup.
