Spoilers for the final scene of Inside Out 2: Deep Dark Secret’s confession is that Riley burned a hole in a rug. Joy’s guess about a pool incident is not confirmed as the secret.
What happens in the post-credits scene?
After the end credits begin, Joy returns to the hallway outside Riley’s Vault and opens the door. She calls to Deep Dark Secret: “Okay Deep Dark Secret, it’s time.” He hesitates, but Joy reassures him and asks what he has been hiding.
He answers, “We burn hole in rug.” Joy says she thought he was going to mention the time they peed in the pool. Deep Dark Secret immediately goes back into the Vault and closes the door. Joy calls after him, then realizes he has disappeared inside.
The screenplay places the sequence under “CREDITS” and follows it with “THE END,” making it the film’s final stinger.

What is Riley’s deep dark secret?
The only secret Deep Dark Secret actually reveals is that Riley burned a hole in a rug. The screenplay gives no explanation of when it happened, how it happened, or what caused it.
Did Riley pee in a pool?
Joy mentions a pool incident as what she expected to hear, but Deep Dark Secret never confirms it. The scene distinguishes the two clearly: he confesses to the rug accident, while the pool story comes from Joy’s guess. His quick retreat is part of the joke, not proof that her guess is true.

Why is the Vault so imposing?
Pixar describes the Vault as a secure place for the secrets Riley accumulates as she grows up. Sets supervisor Amy L. Allen said its design was meant to read immediately as a highly secure, imposing space, with the feel of a bank vault or the U.S. Mint and marble floors (Pixar’s production page).
That grand setting makes the small, awkward confession funnier: a place built to guard Riley’s most ominous-sounding secrets contains an everyday embarrassment. The pool line raises the possibility of something more mortifying, but the screenplay does not identify it as Deep Dark Secret’s confession.
