Disney showed footage from both Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps at CinemaCon 2025. The official descriptions confirm each film’s broad premise; the scene-by-scene “leaks” come from attendee accounts and are not an authenticated transcript. Here is what was announced—and what remains unverified.
What Disney officially announced
Disney’s CinemaCon recap and D23’s event coverage establish that Marvel Studios presented footage from both films. The official summaries describe the stories and characters, but do not verify every moment later attributed to the footage by attendees. The Walt Disney Company’s CinemaCon 2025 recap and D23’s event recap provide the official context.
Thunderbolts*: an antihero team caught in a trap
Disney describes a group that includes Yelena Belova, Bucky Barnes, Red Guardian, Ghost, Taskmaster and John Walker. They are ensnared in a death trap set by Valentina Allegra de Fontaine and forced into a dangerous mission. Actors Florence Pugh, David Harbour, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Hannah John-Kamen and Wyatt Russell presented footage at the event, according to D23.
The Fantastic Four: First Steps: a family facing a cosmic threat
Disney introduced footage set in a 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic world. The film’s central family is Reed Richards (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby), Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn) and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach). The official synopsis says they must defend Earth from Galactus (Ralph Ineson) and his Herald, Silver Surfer (Julia Garner).

What attendees reportedly saw
A detailed Reddit post from April 2025 describes moments from both presentations. These are claims by an attendee posting a description of footage shown to the CinemaCon audience—not confirmed scene summaries from Disney or a verified transcript. Read the attendee-posted account.
Reported Fantastic Four footage
The post describes a talk-show introduction for the team, followed by a family dinner. It says Sue announces that she is pregnant, then Silver Surfer arrives with a warning, with Galactus looming over New York. Those specific beats, including the reported announcement and sequence, are not confirmed in Disney’s recap or the contemporaneous coverage cited below.

Reported Thunderbolts* footage
The same post describes a fight and appearances by Valentina and Sentry. Disney’s official description supports the broader setup of Valentina’s trap and the team’s dangerous mission, but the post’s account of particular shots is not independently established by the official event materials.
What the Silver Surfer report confirms—and what it does not
ComicBook.com reported on April 3, 2025, that CinemaCon attendees saw Julia Garner’s Silver Surfer in footage exclusive to those present. Disney’s official description independently identifies the character as Galactus’s Herald. Together, these support that the character appeared in the presentation and that Garner plays the role; they do not authenticate the other scene details attributed to the footage. How the two footage reports compare
| Film | Official premise | Attendee-reported details | Confidence in specific scene beats |
|---|---|---|---|
| Thunderbolts* | An antihero team caught in Valentina’s death trap and sent on a dangerous mission. | A fight, with Valentina and Sentry reportedly appearing, according to an April 2025 Reddit post. | The broad setup is official; those particular moments trace to the attendee post. |
| The Fantastic Four: First Steps | A 1960s-inspired, retro-futuristic family story in which the Four defend Earth from Galactus and Silver Surfer. | A talk-show introduction, family dinner, reported pregnancy announcement, Silver Surfer’s warning and Galactus over New York, according to the same post. | The setting, characters and cosmic threat are official. The detailed sequence is attendee-reported; Garner’s Silver Surfer appearance was also reported contemporaneously by ComicBook.com. |
Why “plot details leak” needs a caveat
The word “leak” can make a description sound like a confirmed script or official plot synopsis. In this case, Disney’s materials confirm the premises, while the detailed scene account comes from a single audience post. Treat the reported pregnancy announcement, dialogue and shot order as unverified rather than settled plot fact. The footage was presented to CinemaCon attendees, and the contemporaneous ComicBook.com report notes that it was exclusive to those present.
