Spoilers for The Witcher Season 3. Cahir is a Nilfgaardian officer played by Eamon Farren. In the Netflix series, he joins the Scoia’tael force that attacks Aretuza, then asks Ciri to forgive him for his part in the destruction of her family and life. She spares him, but the season does not show them reconciled.
Who is Cahir in The Witcher?
Cahir is a Nilfgaardian character in Netflix’s adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels, portrayed by Eamon Farren. Netflix’s Season 3 cast guide identifies Farren as Cahir, and the show’s official casting announcement lists Farren among the returning cast (Netflix Tudum; About Netflix).
What does Cahir do in Season 3?
During the conflict at the mages’ Conclave, Vilgefortz’s betrayal opens a portal for Francesca, Filavandrel, Cahir, and Scoia’tael fighters. They enter Aretuza intending to seize the school and capture Ciri. Cahir’s presence puts him among the forces threatening the people and place tied to Ciri’s safety (Netflix Tudum).
After the battle and Geralt’s fight with Vilgefortz, Geralt and Ciri encounter Cahir. He asks Ciri to forgive him for helping kill her family and ruining her life. Ciri has the chance to kill him, but does not.

Why does Cahir ask Ciri for forgiveness?
The show makes his plea specific: he asks forgiveness for his part in the harm done to Ciri’s family and life. The scene places that request alongside his earlier role in the attack on Aretuza, but the official recap does not establish a definitive inner motive for his actions or explain in detail why he changes course. It is safest to read the moment as an attempted turn toward atonement, not proof that he has fully changed.
Does Ciri forgive Cahir?
Ciri spares him, but sparing someone is not the same as forgiving or reconciling with them. Season 3 leaves the outcome unresolved: Cahir asks for forgiveness, and Ciri does not kill him, but the scene does not confirm that she accepts his apology.

Is Cahir’s Season 3 story the same in the books?
Netflix describes the series as based on Sapkowski’s novels, and its Season 3 coverage references The Time of Contempt. That connection does not establish that the Aretuza assault, Cahir’s apology, or Ciri sparing him happen in the books in the same way. Those specific events and their pacing should be understood as details of the Netflix adaptation unless a book-specific source confirms otherwise (Netflix Tudum; About Netflix).
