The Witcher Season 5 will be the series’ final season. Netflix planned to film it back-to-back with Season 4, and a 2026 report says filming has wrapped. That report expects a 2027 release, but Netflix has not publicly confirmed that timing or announced a release date.
Is The Witcher Season 5 the final season?
Yes. Netflix announced Season 5 as the fifth and final season, describing it as the final chapter in Geralt’s story. The company’s 2024 production plan was to film Seasons 4 and 5 back-to-back. Netflix’s announcement also named Liam Hemsworth as Geralt, alongside Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Freya Allan as Ciri, and Joey Batey as Jaskier.

What is the latest production update?
Netflix’s December 10, 2025 Tudum update said all eight episodes of Season 4 were streaming and confirmed that the season had been shot back-to-back with the fifth and final season.
In 2026, What’s on Netflix reported that Season 5 filming had wrapped. That outlet also said the season was expected in 2027, while noting Netflix had not publicly confirmed the schedule change or given a specific release window. Treat 2027 as a reported expectation—not a date announced by Netflix.

When could Season 5 be released?
The available production update points to 2027, but no specific month or day is confirmed by Netflix. The 2027 expectation comes from secondary reporting, so the release timing could change. Netflix’s own updates establish the final-season status and back-to-back production plan, not a confirmed Season 5 premiere date.
What will the final season adapt?
Netflix said Seasons 4 and 5 would adapt material from Andrzej Sapkowski’s remaining novels, including Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and The Lady of the Lake. Its series page describes Geralt as a mutated monster-hunter for hire in a turbulent world.

Netflix has named Liam Hemsworth as Geralt, with Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, and Joey Batey returning as Yennefer, Ciri, and Jaskier, respectively. In 2024, creator and showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich described Season 4 as the “penultimate Season” as production began; that comment referred to the start of filming, not a new update on the completed production.
