Spoilers for The Witcher season 4: Ciri survives the finale, but Leo Bonhart has her captive after killing the Rats, including Mistle. Freya Allan’s comments explain Ciri’s turn toward the Falka identity; they do not reveal whether Ciri will escape or what ultimately happens to her. The show leaves that fate unresolved.
What happens to Ciri at the end of season 4?
Ciri has taken the name Falka and found a surrogate family among the Rats. Bonhart lures her back to Jealousy by trapping the group. She cannot save them as he kills the Rats, including Mistle, her romantic interest during the season.

Bonhart spares Ciri, and the season ends with her in his captivity. Netflix’s finale explainer quotes actor Sharlto Copley describing Bonhart’s view of her as a “strange kindred spirit” whose talent makes her a test and a challenge for him. Those are Copley’s character descriptions, not a confirmed account of everything Bonhart intends to do. Netflix Tudum’s season 4 ending explainer leaves his next move unresolved.
What did Freya Allan say about Ciri becoming Falka?
Allan, who plays Ciri, describes Falka as an expression of Ciri’s darker impulses and a way of coping with suffering. In Netflix Tudum’s December 10, 2025 finale explainer, she says: “What Falka represents is this darkness … There’s a part of her that’s leaning into this to escape the pain that she holds.” Allan also emphasizes that she believes goodness remains at Ciri’s core as Ciri explores another side of herself. Read Allan’s comments in the finale explainer.

The point is about character direction, not a prediction of the plot’s outcome. Executive producer Tomasz Bagiński calls Ciri’s arc “a classic coming-of-age story,” describing growing up as a process of encountering one’s shadow and recognizing the capacity for both good and evil. Neither comment confirms what Ciri will choose next.
Does the finale reveal Ciri’s ultimate fate?
No. The finale establishes that Ciri is alive and Bonhart has captured her, but it does not show whether she escapes, dies, or joins him. Those possibilities remain unanswered at the season-four endpoint; Allan’s remarks do not settle them.

What is confirmed about The Witcher season 5?
Netflix has announced that season 5 will be the series’ final chapter, with seasons 4 and 5 adapting the remaining books in Andrzej Sapkowski’s saga, including Baptism of Fire, The Tower of the Swallow, and Lady of the Lake. The announcement describes the adaptation plan, not a guarantee that the show will follow every book event. Netflix has not provided a season 5 release date in the cited announcement. Netflix’s season 5 announcement gives the adaptation context.
Season 4 premiered October 30, 2025, according to Netflix Tudum’s release-date announcement. Netflix says all four seasons are streaming on the service.
