Yes. Charlie Heaton has a son, Archie, with his former partner Akiko Matsuura, according to a report published by The Independent on 27 November 2025. Heaton’s comments about fatherhood were described as rare; that does not establish that he or Matsuura deliberately kept their child secret.
What has been reported about Charlie Heaton’s son?
The Independent reported that Heaton and Matsuura have a son named Archie, born in 2014. The article said Archie was 11 when it was published on 27 November 2025; that is a dated age, not a current one.
The report says Heaton and Matsuura met while they were in the band Comanechi, which Matsuura fronted. It places Archie’s birth around the time Heaton was moving from music into acting. Those details provide context, but do not establish anything about the family’s private arrangements.
What did Heaton say about fatherhood?
According to The Independent, Heaton discussed fatherhood in an interview with Wonderland. He described becoming a father young as a reason to mature quickly: “Being a young father, you have to grow up very fast,” he said, as reported by the newspaper. He also said, “You’ve got to look after somebody.”

On the difficulty of distance, The Independent quoted him saying: “You want to give them good experiences and a lot of love and the hard part obviously is distance,” followed by, “But that’s part of the sacrifice.” The magazine interview itself was not accessible to independently verify the wording; these quotations are attributed here as The Independent reported them.

“Secret child” overstates what the available reporting establishes. The Independent’s account presents Heaton’s remarks as a rare public comment about being a father, but it does not show that he or Matsuura deliberately concealed Archie’s existence. The more accurate takeaway is that Heaton has a son and has spoken publicly, at least in the interview reported by the newspaper, about the responsibilities and emotional difficulty of fatherhood.
