WWE identifies the Rock Bottom and The People’s Elbow as The Rock’s signature moves. The Rock Bottom has the clearer official label as a finishing maneuver; The People’s Elbow has a distinctive, crowd-facing performance and a documented championship-match finish. Neither WWE’s coverage nor the available match accounts establish which causes more physical harm, so “most devastating” is best answered in terms of wrestling role and impact on the story.
What are The Rock’s signature moves?
WWE’s official profile of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson lists the Rock Bottom and The People’s Elbow as his signature moves. It specifically describes the Rock Bottom as a finishing maneuver. That makes it the more straightforward answer if “devastating” means a move presented as The Rock’s defining match-ending weapon.
How the moves differ in the ring
Rock Bottom: a direct finisher with a counterable setup
The Rock Bottom is presented as a relatively direct maneuver. In WWE’s analysis of Rock and John Cena’s signature moves, the company says it does not require much setup or planning, while also examining ways an opponent might interrupt it. Those are WWE’s observations about the move’s presentation and counterplay, not the results of an independent test.
The People’s Elbow: a performance as well as a move
The People’s Elbow stands out for the ritual around its execution: it is a recognizable performance beat, not just a sudden impact in the middle of an exchange. WWE’s WrestleMania XXVIII recap places it within the match’s storytelling, including Cena attempting to imitate the move.

Which move has the stronger claim to being “most devastating”?
It depends on what the word means. For official finisher status, the Rock Bottom has the stronger case: WWE’s profile explicitly calls it a finishing maneuver. For a crowd-facing spectacle with a documented championship payoff, The People’s Elbow has a strong claim. WWE’s retrospective account says The Rock used it to defeat CM Punk and capture an eighth WWE Championship.
The WrestleMania XXVIII match also shows why a finisher’s dramatic role is not a simple measure of certainty: The Rock hit a Rock Bottom on Cena, but Cena kicked out. In that same match, Cena’s attempted imitation of The People’s Elbow made the move part of the rivalry’s story as well as its action.

Does either move cause more real-world damage?
The cited WWE material documents signature-move labels, match storytelling and outcomes. It does not measure force, injury probability or physical damage, so it cannot establish that one move is medically or biomechanically more harmful than the other. Calling either one “more devastating” as a claim about real-world injury would go beyond what these sources show.
