Season 3’s most memorable outfits turn a Thailand vacation into a performance of taste, status and self-image. “Bravo meets Goop” is a useful critical shorthand for that mix of reality-TV social maneuvering and conspicuously curated wellness-resort style—not an official genre label or a claim that Bravo or Goop was involved in the show.
What “Bravo meets Goop” means in The White Lotus
The phrase captures two sides of the season’s wardrobe: friends navigating status and personal reinvention, and a resort setting dressed up as a luxury wellness fantasy. A fashion feature connecting the show’s Ratliff family to Alex Bovaird’s viewing of Below Deck Thailand and Southern Charm supports the reality-TV comparison; the clothes supply the polished, aspirational vacation mood. The result feels socially competitive as well as indulgent.
Costume designer Alex Bovaird calls her approach “emotional dressing”: clothes and colors reflect not only how a character feels but also the person she wants others to see. The styling is intentionally emphatic. As Bovaird put it to Vogue, “We don’t do quiet luxury.”
How the resort wardrobe tells character stories
Three friends, three versions of vacation polish
Jaclyn, Kate and Laurie are not dressed as a single, interchangeable group. A fashion feature describes Kate’s look as classic affluent-mother polish and Laurie’s as more practical and down-to-earth, with trousers suited to exploring Thailand. Jaclyn brings more overt designer glamour. Their differences help make the trip feel like a clash of social habits and personal styles, not a coordinated resortwear campaign. The available descriptions do not establish a consistent price comparison among their full wardrobes.

Chelsea’s collected, bohemian mix
Chelsea’s style layers colorful bikinis, crochet, market finds, vintage pieces and designer accessories. Bovaird told Vogue that she imagined Chelsea’s crochet dress as something she might have found at a market or collected while traveling. The Standard likewise characterizes the look as eclectic, feminine and influenced by the 1960s. Bovaird’s three-part shorthand for a Chelsea-inspired outfit was “Sheer dresses with bright bikinis underneath and leather sandals,” as quoted by The Standard.
Belinda’s tropical color and Rick’s relaxed shirts
Belinda’s wardrobe uses colorful tropical-print dresses and caftans, including custom pieces made with vibrant Thai fabrics. Vogue names Anthropologie and Verandah among the wardrobe sources. Rick’s partly unbuttoned Hawaiian shirts are relaxed by comparison: Bovaird told Bustle that some were custom-made in New York from vintage fabric using a 1950s pattern, while others came from markets, rental houses or Bangkok.

Victoria’s polished coastal-preppy persona
Bovaird and Parker Posey drew on a coastal American preppy style and the Tuckernuck website when shaping Victoria’s look. Caftans and large glasses contribute to the character’s presentation. They are costume choices that help establish a persona, rather than a universal formula for dressing at a Thai resort.
Why the clothes look more dressed-up than a real resort
The show builds a heightened vacation fantasy: characters change outfits often and dress for dinners and beach gatherings. Bovaird told ELLE, “Interestingly, at actual five-star resorts, I notice much simpler styles than what we show on The White Lotus.” She also described a world where everyone dresses for dinner and changes three times a day, “much like the good old days when people dressed up for travel.” The series deliberately leans away from jeans and sweatpants and toward more theatrical choices, including heels at beach barbecues.

That contrast matters if you are using the show for vacation inspiration: the outfits are designed to read clearly on screen and reveal character. They are not evidence of a real resort dress code or a practical packing list.
What is known about the outfits and where they came from
The wardrobe mixes designer pieces, custom work, vintage and market-sourced clothes rather than relying on one label or price tier. Bovaird told Harper’s Bazaar that the team used vintage dealers, shopped at both high and low price points and made pieces. She also described borrowing jewelry worth more than a million dollars in total—a production-wide figure, not the value of one character’s wardrobe.

| Character or group | Identified wardrobe details | Sourcing notes |
|---|---|---|
| Chelsea | Crochet cutout minidress, colorful bikinis, vintage and market-bought sarongs and minidresses, a parrot-print Loewe wrap skirt, a Blondie T-shirt, designer bags and sunglasses. | Vogue identifies Corsica-based Tara Matthews as a source for most of her colorful bikinis. Designer accessories are styled to feel as though they could be market finds. |
| Chloe | Two custom Jacquemus looks, including a black-and-white polka-dot bodysuit with a striped sequined skirt and a pink one-piece with a sheer sarong. | Created for the show; those exact costumes should not be treated as generally available retail pieces. |
| Belinda | Colorful tropical-print dresses and caftans. | Some looks were made with vibrant Thai fabrics. Vogue names Anthropologie and Verandah among wardrobe sources. |
| Rick | Relaxed, partly unbuttoned Hawaiian shirts. | Some were custom-made in New York from vintage fabric using a 1950s pattern; others came from markets, rental houses or Bangkok. |
| Jaclyn, Kate and Laurie | Jaclyn’s designer glamour, Kate’s classic affluent polish and Laurie’s practical traveler pieces. | The cited descriptions distinguish their styles but do not give comparable prices for their full wardrobes. |
How to borrow the look without copying a costume
Start with the mood you want rather than chasing an exact screen outfit. The show’s most wearable cues are bright swimwear, a sheer or crochet cover-up, sandals and one or two personal accessories. For Chelsea’s more collected feel, combine a vintage or travel-found piece with a colorful bikini; for a practical traveler’s interpretation, keep the outfit simple enough for walking and sightseeing.
- For a Chelsea-inspired beach look: try a sheer dress or crochet cover-up over a bright swimsuit, then add leather sandals.
- For a more practical resort outfit: choose comfortable trousers or a simple dress and limit the statement pieces to one accessory.
- For a low-commitment detail: a crochet mesh beach tote can echo the texture of the styling. ELLE links one as a shopping suggestion, not as an item confirmed to appear in the show.
Exact costume pieces may be custom-made, vintage or sourced from markets, so a similar color, silhouette or texture is a more reliable goal than an exact match. The cited shopping coverage does not establish current stock, prices, sizing or product performance for inspired-by alternatives.
