The Netflix series most likely meant by “Korea’s answer to John Wick” is Agent Kim Reactivated, a 2026 Korean action series about a father who revives his former black-ops skills after his daughter goes missing. The comparison is a headline-level analogy, not Netflix’s description: the show mixes action with comedy and crime, and available sources do not establish that its choreography or overall style matches the John Wick films.
What is Agent Kim Reactivated about?
Netflix describes the premise this way: “When an unassuming dad’s daughter goes missing, he dusts off his old black-ops skills to track her down — only to attract the wrong kind of attention.” The story follows Mr. Kim, a mild-mannered office worker raising his teenage daughter, Min-ji, after his wife’s death. When she disappears, he finds signs of a kidnapping and returns to his former life as a spy. Netflix’s official title page and a Netflix Tudum feature published June 29, 2026 provide those details.

How close is it to John Wick?
The comparison works as a quick shorthand for a capable former operative drawn into a dangerous search, but it should not be read as a promise of matching fight choreography, tone, or quality. Netflix categorizes the series as action, comedy, crime, and a webtoon adaptation. The story also has spy elements and a rescue-driven plot, so it is not simply a straight revenge-action premise. The cited descriptions support a black-ops and pursuit setup; they do not assess whether its action scenes resemble the distinctive style of the John Wick movies.
Cast, creators, and webtoon origins
Netflix lists So Ji-sub, Choi Dae-hoon, and Yoon Kyung-ho among the series’ stars. Tudum also names Joo Sang-uk, Son Na-eun, Seo Su-min, and Yu Ji-ahn in the cast, with Seo Su-min playing Min-ji. The series is adapted from the Manager Kim webtoon by writer Toy and illustrator Jeong Jong-taek. Tudum identifies Nam Dae-joong as writer and Yi Seung-young and Lee So-eun as directors.

Release and reported performance
Netflix’s Tudum feature says two episodes premiered each week on Friday and Saturday, beginning June 26, 2026. That is the series’ historical release cadence, not a current schedule recommendation; availability and age classifications can vary by country, and Netflix’s linked title page is its UK listing.
In a July 31, 2026 report, The Korea Times said the show exceeded a 20 percent television viewership rating in Korea within four episodes, became the second-highest-rated Friday-Saturday drama in SBS history, and spent three consecutive weeks at No. 1 on Netflix’s global Top 10 for non-English television shows. These are figures reported by the outlet; the cited material does not provide primary ratings data or Netflix chart records for independent verification. Read The Korea Times report.
