Xbox announced it on July 17, 2024, as a sweepstakes prize—not as a standard retail controller—so “new” refers to its 2024 announcement, not a confirmed current launch.
What makes the Deadpool Xbox controller different?
Its rear shell is molded into a rounded backside inspired by Deadpool. Xbox called the custom design the “Cheeky Controller” and described it as channeling “Deadpool’s buns of steel” in a “firm (yet surprisingly comfortable) grip.” That comfort description is Xbox’s promotional wording, not an independent test.
The controller also wears Deadpool’s red-and-black tactical-suit styling. The distinctive physical feature is the sculpted back; it is not a feature of the standard Xbox controller line.
Was it available to buy?
Xbox’s July 17, 2024 announcement presented the custom controller as part of a global sweepstakes. The announcement does not establish a regular retail release, current availability, or resale status. The official sweepstakes rules describe a grand-prize package that included two custom controllers. Microsoft listed the approximate retail value of all prizes as $859.98 USD; that figure is for the full prize package, not a price for the Deadpool controller.

Don’t confuse it with the Deadpool controller holder
Xbox also announced a separate Cable Guys Deadpool Controller Holder by EXG Pro. The promotion offered the holder to the first 1,000 purchasers of an Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 – Core in North America and Canada, while supplies lasted. It is an accessory for holding a controller, not the sculpted Deadpool controller. The announcement does not establish whether the holder is currently listed or in stock.
How did the Wolverine controller compare?
On July 22, 2024, Xbox announced a Wolverine-inspired custom controller as a follow-up to the Deadpool design. The two announcements are comparable in character styling and promotional context: Deadpool’s was red and black with the sculpted backside, while Wolverine’s took its design cues from that character. The follow-up announcement does not establish that either custom design became a broadly available retail product.
