It debuted at Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort on May 22, 2026, the same day The Mandalorian and Grogu opened in theaters.
What is the Mandalorian and Grogu ride?
It is a new storyline for Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Disney announced that the mission would bring Din Djarin and Grogu into the existing attraction; it is not a wholly new standalone ride. Disney also said the attraction’s story would take a different path from the film, rather than simply retelling it. Disney Parks Blog explained the new crew controls and story distinction in April 2025.
When and where did the mission open?
The new Smugglers Run mission debuted on May 22, 2026, at Disneyland Resort in California and Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. That was also the film’s announced theatrical opening date. StarWars.com listed May 22, 2026, as the movie’s theatrical release date; Lucasfilm’s May 20, 2026 announcement described the mission and its debut at both resorts.
The announcement establishes the debut date, not whether the attraction is operating at this moment. Check the relevant resort’s current park information for operating hours, closures, access requirements, and wait times.

What happens on the new Smugglers Run mission?
Hondo Ohnaka recruits the flight crew to pursue ex-Imperial officers alongside Din Djarin and Grogu. The mission begins on Tatooine, and the crew’s bounty choice helps determine where the pursuit goes next.
Possible destinations
- Cloud City on Bespin
- Coruscant
- The wreckage of the second Death Star near Endor
The possible routes give the crew a role in shaping the mission’s destination. Lucasfilm’s announcement describes the Tatooine start and the bounty-dependent destinations; it does not present the ride as a scene-by-scene version of the movie.

Why did the ride and movie debut on the same day?
The shared date was a coordinated launch linking the park experience to the film’s theatrical release. In a March 2025 Disney Parks Blog report, Asa Kalama, Vice President, Executive for Creative and Interactive Experiences at Walt Disney Imagineering, said: “Opening an attraction and such a massive movie on the same day wouldn’t be possible without the relationships we have inside Disney,” Kalama added. The quote describes the coordination behind the launch, not a rider review.
