The Family Plan is a 2023 Apple Original action comedy about a suburban father whose hidden past as a government assassin catches up with him. Mark Wahlberg stars as Dan Morgan, who takes his unsuspecting family on a road trip to Las Vegas while trying to keep them safe. The original film and its 2025 sequel are both listed on Apple TV.
What is The Family Plan about?
Dan Morgan appears to have a settled family life: he is a devoted husband and father of three, and works as a car salesman. But he has concealed a former life as an elite government assassin. When people from that past find him, Dan takes his family on an unexpected trip to Las Vegas and tries to protect them without revealing who he used to be. Who stars in the film?
Mark Wahlberg plays Dan Morgan, with Michelle Monaghan as his wife, Jessica. Their children Nina and Kyle are played by Zoe Colletti and Van Crosby. The principal cast also includes Saïd Taghmaoui, Maggie Q and Ciarán Hinds.
Simon Cellan Jones directed the film, written by David Coggeshall. Apple’s U.S. listing credits Maggie Q as Gwen, Taghmaoui as Augie and Hinds as McCaffrey.

Has The Family Plan 2 been released?
Yes. The Family Plan 2 was released November 21, 2025, and Apple lists it on Apple TV. The sequel sends Dan and his family on a European holiday, where a mysterious figure from his past appears. It is a released follow-up, not a project still awaiting release.
Apple announced the sequel in October 2024. At the time, Wahlberg said, “I am beyond excited to step back into the shoes of Dan Morgan again, alongside my brilliant co-stars and with Simon and David returning,” Apple’s announcement.
