The “Megaverse” announced in a June 2024 Despicable Me 4 teaser is a joke, not a verified slate of upcoming Minions films or shows. Reporting on the promotional clip describes Steve Carell introducing a mock franchise lineup built around five super-serum Minions. The actual film follows Gru and his family as they face a new threat.
What is the Minions “Megaverse”?
It is a mock slate presented as part of the film’s promotional campaign. A June 8, 2024 report reproduced by Headtopics, citing Collider coverage, describes Steve Carell introducing a “Megaverse” centered on five super-serum Minions. The framing parodies the expansive announcements associated with superhero franchises.
The far-future titles and dates mentioned in that joke should not be read as confirmed productions. The report does not establish that Universal or Illumination has scheduled those projects.
Is a Mega Minions movie real?
The teaser report does not verify a separate Mega Minions movie or a broader series of Minions projects. Its mock lineup is promotional humor, not an official production announcement. Illumination’s official Despicable Me 4 page identifies the film and its creative team, but does not present the teaser’s imagined future slate as real.

Why the teaser matters
The “Megaverse” gag borrows the language of interconnected cinematic universes to make a promotional reveal feel deliberately oversized. Its appeal is the contrast between that grand franchise-style presentation and the Minions’ comic premise. The distinction matters: the teaser can play with imaginary sequels without confirming them.
Illumination says it has an exclusive financing and distribution partnership with Universal Pictures on its studio page. That partnership does not turn the teaser’s fictional titles or dates into a release schedule.
